Permanent cross-division games are going nowhere, despite the fact that LSU and Florida are adamently opposed to them. No one else in the league has a problem with it.

not much will change....8 or maybe up to 9 conference games, 3 cross division games (1 of which is permanent)

the biggest change will be annual Tenn-Bama game being done.


(although, again, I believe this can all be avoided by merely sticking Mizzou in the East....pair A&M with Mizzou and be done with it all)

I think it'll have to go to 9. Either permanent rivalries will end, or they'll go to a 9-game schedule. I don't see how one or the other doesn't happen.

Yep. Will be interesting to see who their new rival is from the West. Assuming LSU-Florida, Auburn-Alabama, Ole Miss-Vandy, State-Kentucky, and Arkansas-USC all stay in place, that would mean Georgia and Tennessee would have to be paired with Missouri and A&M for their permanent rivalry game.

Personally, I'd like to see Tennessee/Missouri and Georgia/A&M.

Well, based on Martin's comments, then that means either 1 of 2 things:


1. Missouri is being stuck in the East and no other team shifts(as opposed to Auburn shifting East) ... because if Auburn shifts, I guarantee you that permanent cross-division games will continue

OR

2. Martin doesn't know any more than the rest of us and is merely continuing to hammer the LSU drum opposed to permanent cross-division games.

They could go back to 2 perm rivalries.

I don't think that's an option. With the addition of one team to each division, you could have LSU playing a team like South Carolina in Columbia only once every 10 years.

I would change up the divisions with the goal of trying to split up the "Big 6" to create equitable divisions and trying to maintain historical rivalries as best as possible. I would not be concerned with geography.

This is what I come up with...

Div 1 Div 2

Bama <permanent opponent> Auburn
UT <> UGA
A&M <> Arkansas
LSU <> Florida
Ole Miss <> Miss St
Vandy <> Kentucky
South Carolina <> Missouri

So we lose UT-FLA and LSU-Aub, but both of those rivalries were really started when we did the original division split in 92.

We also lose UGA-SC and UK-UT.

We keep all the major ones though...

I think some people are getting a little too creative.

In the end, the SEC will do what changes the status quo THE LEAST....Either plop Mizzou in the East or move Auburn East and the only affect is Bama-Tenn is gone.

At this moment, I think they put Mizzou in the East and pair them with the Aggies.

Yep. I think they put Missouri in the East. Most of the East teams are pretty far north in the first place. The only far trip would be to Gainesville.
