Funny how some state schools are forced to pair up, some forced to be seperate

You've got word that Oklahoma/Oklahoma State and Kansas/Kansas State and Virginia/Va. Tech are forced to be a pair during any conference changes. You also have schools like South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and others rumored to be keeping out their fellow state schools.
Just kind of odd.

If Oklahoma State could peel off from OU and join the SEC (not that I want that) I think it would be a good thing for them. Don't know why (guess politics) they just follow their leaders

KU would drop K-State like a hot rock. If they get a BCS invite, they will not care one lick if K-State winds up in the Mountain West.

I have commented on this before. Take Florida and FSU for example, the state of Florida can have an ACC champion and an SEC champion in the same year and both schools keep their rivalry game intact. Georgia and Ga Tech as well.

no they wouldn't. Kansas and KState are governed by the same board of regents. They are joined at the hip because there are not separate college systems in Kansas, just one unified public system.

True, KU and K-State aren't forced by LAW like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. KU can leave KSU out to dry if they wanted.

I did a search, KU don't have to bring KSU along. The Board would like them to stay together but they don't have to like the Oklahoma schools.

Kansas' head guy publicly said recently that KU can land in a different conference that KSU.

And that same board realizes that the "system" is much better off having at least one school in a BCS conference instead of two in the Mountain West. They will not cut off their noses in spite of their face. Does the board require that KU & K-State play in the same conference as Wichita St., Pitt. St., Emporia St. & Ft. Hays St.?

this is what oklahoma should do... the PAC needs to realize they're adding the same markets and revenue for both teams.
if they compromise and take one, and the SEC takes the other, it'll work out best for all parties

That's what I'm screaming brother. It's a win, win, win. Pac Wins, SEC wins, State of OKL wins.

Getting OSU is not a good consolation prize. They bring nothing to the table.
They are a sub .500 program, high school like stadium atmosphere, with mediocre basketball program, with no TV markets or national brand.
Personally, I think WVU is a better get.
The SEC would be foolish to go after OSU.
