There is no controversy...period. JL is the starting qb and will be the starting qb. I'm really not taking shots at you...but why do you think LSU's defense is playing so well now? Sure they have studs all over the field...but they had them last year. LSU wore down last year because of the constant 3 and outs of JJ. I guess you forget the 8 game stretch last year where he threw for less that 100 yards, but more importantly, was just bad. You like to point out the good games against teams such as Ole Miss and A&M...both with terrible secondaries. You cannot ignore the fact where JJ had the team offensively last year and the year before. You cannot ignore the fact that almost every single game was a nail biter.....under JJ.....Why do you think our backs are enjoying more success this year? It is the ability of JL to pass the ball that defenses have to back off and respect. NOt ONE SINGLE team lsu has played in the last two years with JJ did that...every single team stacked the line and made JJ beat them......most times he was terrible. We have some great rb's right now, what lsu needs is a good passing threat...we don't need jj running the ball.....we need someone that offers the threat of a passing game...period.....as a neutral guy here, it is obvious to me that you are in the JJ corner simply because you don't like Lee supporters.....JL has played (and will continue to play) much stronger competition than JJ played last year...yet he is doing very well.....my advice (not that you asked it) would be to enjoy the ride...and don't worry about the posters on here...you are going to find yourself miserable over a LSU win because JL did well....as a neutral fan, there is no way in hell I think JJ gives this team the best chance to win.....and I'm not pro JL...I'm just seeing something special out there...

1. There is no controversy about who the starting QB is (obviously). There is a controversy about who the starting QB should be if the previous starting QB returns early enough in the season (increasingly unlikely).

2. JJ also did well against Bama's secondary, which wasn't lights out, but was certainly better than Oregon's or State's.

3. Our offense would have been dysfunctional with just about any average QB at the helm. The lines were not very good (especially in 09'), the running game sucked in 09'. JJ was one of the the only players on the offense who carried his weight. His QB rating was 37th by years end, and he led the nation in redzone efficiency. And Lee's a better pure passer. No one is disputing that. But MState and Oregon still stacked the line. 8 or 9 in at times. Our O line is just that much better this year.

4. I'm support JJ because he's still a player and I think he probably got a raw deal (though I doubt that his hands are completely clean).

5. I've never been miserable over an LSU win because Lee (or any player) was playing. That's ridiculous. Even if Lee was an a-hole, I'd still be happy that the team won. Turns out, he seems to be a great guy. So what kind of sense does that make?

He completed one pass that acounted for half his yardage total. But ok whatever you say.

I dont think anyone here doesnt support JJ.. most just dont want him as the qb anymore. Not really that hard to understand.

Which then puzzles me even more that JJ was having such a good game passing the ball, that miles would take JJ out and insert JL on a 3rd and 13 with the game on the line....afterwards saying he thought that "JL gave them the best chance to complete that 3rd down".....there is absolutely no dispute to that. And fwiw, oregon had a VERY fast secondary...there were hardly ever any guys open....and still JL gets close to 200 if they simply catch the balls.

No, there really isn't. Despite the insanely (and quite hilariously) inflated sense of self-importance held by many of the more prolific posters of this board, no amount of outrage amongst a population as useless, irrelevant, ignoble and ignorable as "The Rant" will ever amount to a "controversy".
