Pac-12 presidents unsure if they want to expand

Pac-16 not done deal. Stories are a little bit ahead. Remains unclear if Pac-12 presidents want to expand.
Indications Tex, Okla (& OK St/Tech) might apply for Pac-12 invite early as tomorrow. Unclear what Pac-12 will do. Probably - but not sure.
Note today's stories have originated in Texas. 1 possible issue re: Pac-12 & Texas: LHN might not be downsized enough yet.
Reports today might be good indication of what Tex hopes to pitch re: slightly downsized LHN to Pac-12. Pac-12 might not take that deal.

Issue because Pac-12 members have pooled all individual media rights. Texas wants to keep piece of pie.
They're uninterested in letting 1 member (of 16) have own media rights deal. Members went all-in to pool those

The Pac-12 might expand, and soon. But it isn't going to do anything that's seen as bringing in a new school and providing it with special rules or preferential treatment. Nope, not even Texas.

It may still not happen, but I'd have a hard fricking time believing that they won't get in if these schools apply

Every conference has an uppser hand on Texas, why give in? Either share your revenue or go independent. They are the school on the verge of being homeless why give them their demands on this LHN?

Sounds like the presidents aren't gonna fold to the demands that Texas is making about their LHN. 14 teams wouldn't work with the way that the Pac-12 is set up right now. It's either going to be 16 teams or 12 teams. OU, OSU, and TT are willing to play by the Pac-12 rules, so the Pac-12 might just skip out on Texas and add a different team (or pair of teams if they deny TT) or just not expand anymore at all.

Not happening. Ever. I don't even think the Pac-12 will take Texas Tech if Texas doesn't agree to full revenue sharing. They could go hard after Kansas and either Kansas State or Missouri if they want to go to 16, or just keep it at 12.

Academics? What about byu

Turning down UT and OU over third tier tv rights would be idiotic

Think of a community college when you think of Boise State. Seriously.

Cal and Stanford don't want any teams with religious affiliations in the conference, plus BYU won't play on Sundays.

Yeah, but the Pac-12 teams aren't going to make special exceptions very easily just to get Texas in the conference. USC even agreed to equal revenue sharing even though you guys were hauling in way more revenue than most Pac-10 teams. Do you think USC is going to let Texas get a special deal and more revenue than them? I really think they would be perfectly content with 12 and keeping the deal they have now.

But but I thought the longhorn network was nothing to be up in arms over. Everyone else would do it if they had a chance. Its not a significant advantage I thought everyone would be jumping to meet any of UTs demands.
Couldnt have planned it any better haha. ACC chooses cuse and pitt over UT. Pac 12 wont give in because of the Longhorn network :rotflmao:

I do not think the PAC should let Texas keep the LHN. The conference is stronger if everybody shares an equal amount.

texas has 2 choices........drop the lhn and join the coveted pac 12, or keep lhn and go independant...... i hope the pac 12 sticks to their guns and makes the shorthorns play by the same rules as everyone else, OR NOT AT ALL......

like one of the posters above said, why make any concessions to texas. They are on the cusp of getting locked out of any conference so why negotiate?
Posted on 9/18/11 at 8:34 pm to SeattleTiger19
Texas is trying to act independent, but at the same time join a conference. What a joke.
Posted on 9/18/11 at 8:36 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
texas has ALWAYS acted this way, but now, teams are FED UP with their arrogance...........its about time, screw tex-arse.........

Simple compromise for the LHN/PAC - include PAC programming & negotiate income above tier 3 - its doable.
Still not convinced OU wants to stay aligned with UT.

they have a 3rd: keep the big12 and add some shite teams if OU/OSU leave

PAC-12 members would be foolish to allow Texas to keep the Longhorn Network. It's going to create the same problems it did in the Big 12.
