Can someone please tell me why UT in the SEC wouldn't work? I'm looking for something other than "they wont join cause theyre frickin scared"

Texas doesn't like to be just "one of the guys"
LHN wouldn't work
Academics are a concern (so they say)

i would imagine that aTm was smart enough to get a no UT agreement as part of their admissions process. gentleman's agreement at the minimum.

SEC has revenue sharing. Texas will not agree to equal revenue sharing...this is the issue now in the Big12.
Plus the SEC has it's own network and will not allow Texas to keep the 300mil LHN.
This is why Texas will not join the SEC. It is not in their financial best interest.

Because they will not join anything that they cannot control. And when they are in control of something they destroy it. See: SWC, Big XII.

Revenue sharing & the LHN

Texas is being stubborn about keeping the LHN which is something that will never be accepted by all the SEC institutions.
Texas higher ups have bad mouthed the SEC to the point where they would look silly if they joined the SEC.

When you say revenue sharing are you referring to bowl money as well as TV?

What does each SEC team make per year with the ESPN deal compared to the LHN? Thanks.

I think Texas has also burnt bridges with the Pac-12. They are running out of dance partners. I think the ACC smoke is just to put pressure on the Big 10.

This seems like BS.....why would they bad mouth the SEC?

Still seems weak to me. Recruiting is recruiting, and academic standards of the Big XII aren't exactly stellar, I would say on par with the SEC.

pretty obvious texas loods down on the sec.

Ryan of all the talk out of Ut, not one word has been about joining the SEC. They know it will never happen. And once T A&M get in they would have a vote, and that would not be a good vote for Ut.

Just FYI, but the LHN is perfectly fine under the SEC bylaws and is a test bed to see if UF, LSU and Bama among others can laungh thier own. If people don't already know it, it is perfectly fine ot monitze your third tier rights in the SEC and those revenues are not shared...
As far as why UT and the SEC won't work, UT values things differently than the SEC. It is just that simple. There are things that UT thinks are important that are not emphasized in the SEC.

The objections to the LHN have absolutely nothing about third tier TV rights.
Nothing.
Nothing.

Texas is not into being treated equal. They like to call the shots. They would be bad for the SEC. They most likely will end up independent.
