So, folks, imagine for a moment your team is one of the following:

BigEast LEFT-OUTs
Louisville
Cincinnati
Rutgers
UConn
USF
TCU (on track to join BigEast for 2012)

OR of one of these:

The Big12-2-1-XX:
Iowa State
Kansas State
Baylor
Texas Tech (a maybe, but likely nervous as can be)
Kansas (who thought the BigEast was a good landing spot)
Missouri (who can't woo its #1 B1G, might not be able to woo #2 SEC, and who thought the BigEast would be a good consolation prize)

HOW are you feeling about your long-term BCS conference future NOW, amidst the shock-and-awe of the past 48 hours or so?

This absolutely and totally sucks for TCU fans. They miss out on the Big 12, then spend the last two decades bringing their football program into relevance, and even earn a Rose Bowl bid. They did everything right since 1995, and earned a BCS conference bid.

Only to see that conference likely to disintegrate before they have a chance to start playing in it. That f'n sucks.

sucks for TCU and i feel bad for them.

Baylor had it comming.

Mizzou...who knows, if they don't get an SEC bid ( which they could have had) or Big10, then they screwed up big time.

I'm just glad Ole Miss is grandfathered into the SEC.

Re Ole Miss = grandfathered ...

Vandy & MSU are also happy about being with "the in-crowd"

They wont be left out. If anything look for the big east to try and add them if they are available.

But the BigEast won't be what it was, if it loses both Syracuse & Pitt

I would think if these two teams do leave the Big East then TCU will attempt to get out of their contract and join the Big 12.

I think they will be. Schools like Kansas, Mizzu, Kstate will more than likely be available. Poach those schools and they will keep their BCS status.

Syracuse has had one winning season in the last 8 years. The Big East isn't losing much with them.

I think we're headed for a Big 12/Big East merger. If that happens, does Texas decide to stay so they have an easy conference that they can absolutely dominate both athletically and politically?

The Big East loses Pitt, Cuse, and WVU (to the SEC). Th Big 12 loses the Oklahomas, A&M, Kansas, and their plus one to the Pac-16. That leaves us with:

USF
Cincy
L'ville
Rutgers
UConn
ISU
KSU/Mizzou (one goes to the Pac-16 with Kansas)
Baylor
TCU
Tech?
Texas?

That gives you 11. Add Houston and you get 12 and a title game. Without Tech and Texas, you're at 10 and need two programs to get to a title game. BYU? Air Force?

Would BYU be willing to leave their independent status?

Really? I think they are the only logical choice if you believe, like I do, that the SEC won't add a team from a state we already have a team. And if we do, the ACC will promptly add WVU to replace them.

I think they would be better off adding Houston, not that they're the first choice. With A&M & Houston they would had a big presence in Texas.

What about the Pac? Add the Oklahomas plus Kansas and Mizzou. That's a great scenario as it would be like the old Pac-8 with the old Big 8, only with Utah and the Arizona schools replacing Nebraska, ISU, and KSU in the Big 8 division.

I don't think all of these teams are left out. The Big East is not in as bad of shape as the Big 12.

I think the East survives and takes some of the so called left-outs from the Big 12 and keeps their BCS status.

Kansas, K-State and Mizzu would be good fits.

Iowa State, Huston, Texas tech could also be looked at.

SEC will take someone else to put in the East either Mizzu/WV/VT or someone no one expects.

The Big 12 will be dead by next year.

The left outs are Baylor and i think TX. UT wants their cake and eat it too...and no Major conference is going to accept that. baylor just brings NOTHING to the table for any conf!
