If the girls soccer team goalie has a strong enough leg to get a look from the LSU Football team, I know there are dozens of Male LSU Students who can kick the ball into the end zone on a kickoff.
IF YOU ARE A SOCCER PLAYER THAT CAN KICK THE CRAP OUT OF A BALL, PLEASE GO KNOCK ON COACH MCGAUGHEY'S DOOR AND ASK FOR A TRYOUT.
IF YOU KNOW A SOCCER PLAYER THAT CAN KICK THE CRAP OUT OF A BALL WHO CHOSE DRINKING AT LSU OVER COLLEGE SOCCER, GET HIM OFF OF HIS BUTT AND DOWN TO COACH MCGAUGHEY'S OFFICE.
And if nobody fitting this description shows up, McGaughey needs to go find one. Call the Jesuit Soccer coach. Call the Catholic High Soccer coach. Ask them about their former players. Call the Newman Soccer coach and ask him who this kid is and if he is at LSU right now:

This problem has an easy solution, it just requires someone who played Futbol.

It's incredibly frustrating that our kickoff and punt coverage has been so spotty so far this season.
Our Defense is an absolute monster and we're not going to be able to take full advantage of it without a better kicking game.
As good as we've been overall improvement in this area is going to have to happen if we're going to win another National Title.

I am a former all state soccer player but it doesnt translate as well as you think. I could kick a soccer ball 70+ yards and a football farther than most but the follow through, foot placement, walk up are all different.
it would take a year or two of practice to be consistent enough to kick for LSU
My little brother is a very good high school kicker but an average soccer player. Soccer players have an advantage when they become kickers but its not an immediate thing

I am a former all-state soccer player who played both D1 soccer and football in college. It took me about a week to make the transition before I was kicking it to the goal line on kickoffs.

Thats true but if it is someone like me who hasnt played soccer competitively in 2 years and has never played football before it will take a while.

There is no way in hell we should be kicking off to the 15 yard line as seen in the game last night.

Big Lake - either you are writing checks your arse can't cover, or you seem to be exactly the type of person that I knew existed on the LSU Campus.
Get off of your arse and start kicking some footballs.
I'm pretty sure if someone shows up at the LSU Football office and can kick a football into the end zone, with decent hang time, they will be suiting up for the Tigers sooner rather than later.

considering that most soccer players are on scholarship....
the NCAA does not allow students on scholarship for OTHER sports to also play football.

Honestly, rugby equates much much better for this. He could probably try to snag LSU's starting fullback and I guarantee you that kid can both tackle and kick the crap out of the ball. Chances are this guy wants to play rugby though and not football so go check out the high school championship and try to recruit one from there. Hell when I graduated in 2006, the LA U-19 side won the national tournament so they have to have some damn good fullbacks or wingers that could be talked into being a kicker for LSU football

Athens HS in Texas graduated a kid who routinely kicked kickoffs through the opposing uprights. He had only one missed FG in 2 years and it was due to a very steep angle (7 yrd line on hash). He is currently at Texas College in Tyler and could tranfer if enticed. He is not playing ball now.
Why LSU does not have a top rated kicker every year baffles me.

At this point we need him. We cant keep giving teams the ball at the 30-35 yard line every time we kick off.

I was a kicker in HS last year and I promise you I can kick further than Alleman
