OU to PAC soon after Monday? - Bd. of Regents meeting agenda for Monday Sept.19

Item 28 - ISSUE: CONFERENCE ALIGNMENT – NC
ACTION PROPOSED:
The Board of Regents will discuss potential legal ramifications of athletic conference
realignment options and/or consider new athletic conference membership and take any
appropriate action. An executive session may be proposed pursuant to Section 307B.4 of the
Oklahoma Open Meetings Act.
Item 29 - LITIGATION – ALL
ACTION PROPOSED:
This is reported for information only. No action is required.
An executive session may be proposed for the purpose of meeting with General
Counsel for a report on pending and possible litigation pursuant to Section 307B.4.

I think OU is gonna use this as leverage to get a bigger piece of the pie. Once they do, they'll back off their bluff to go to the PAC12, and the Big12 will start adding some teams to keep their conference together.

What bigger piece of the pie? They have already divided up the revenue disproportionately to Texas and OU and A&M -leaving.

LA KID: You might be right, but I doubt it. I don't think Boren would have taken things this far if he didn't know the Pac is okay with OU+OSU without the horns. Promises of Cal and Stanford to help OU with research funds to help get OU the cherished AAU status are why Boren's so hot for the Pac.
In addition, unless the horns were to scrap the lhn or make OU an equal in it (which I doubt espn would ever allow), the Big12-2-1 would never be a level playing field, and this musical chairs conference changing nightmare would recur every year. Boren's already clearly beyond very impatient to have to be dealing with it two years in a row.
