Either that, or we'll see Mett in the 2nd half

that's the spirit!

while we're here, is State's new DC as blitz-happy as the Diaz dude that went to Texas?

For awhile I didn't consider this a possibility.

And while I would like nothing more to see JL perform well and lead us to Atlanta, if he struggles, I think the staff is closer to making this move, if necessary.

Lee has moved the ball pretty well, really throughout his career, even back in 08. Let's hope this is the case when needed.

Neither one of them introduced the race discussion to this thread.

That was the troll that has repeatedly spewed the race BS on this board, and who is now visibly absent from this discussion.

I'm at fault for calling him out on it- and this getting sideways. But I agree, lets get back on topic here, if there is anything more to discuss regarding the OP.

Am I the person of which you speak? Some of us have jobs we have to attend to and cannot stay on her 24/7. You had your opportunity to discuss this matter while I was here and made no sense.

As to introducing race. You are the first person in this thread that brought race into the discussion. You could not cite any statement that i made that was untrue.

And IMO he played bad enough to lose it. CLM and GC had so many opportunities to replace him with JL. I can't imagine any coach sticking with JJ the way he played if they really thought JL would do better.

I think he will be saturday. I can't imagine any reason why a DC wouldn't make blitzing and hitting JL their primary gameplan. Hopefully he will hit the quick slant(like he did against Fla)
and we move the pocket so he won't be a sitting duck in the pocket.

Not that I am saying Mett should play but if JL is playing terrible I hope they will give Mett a shot to save us like they did with JL last year.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to take a lot for a change to happen honestly. And with as much as they'll likely blitz, and Lee's tender ankle, I hope Mett is preparing in case he's needed for significant PT. If he gets it, he might not give the job back.

I hope you aren't basing that on the last 2 years

It's unfortunate that the recent pre-season events robbed JJ, the team and fans of seeing just what he would have been capable of with a change in QB coach and OC. I was actually looking forward to it.

In the first 2 games we've seen the simplification of the offense and just how well JL is doing under center.

Could he be better? Yes. There are still some minor tweaks here and there that could be made.

Would have been interesting to see how JJ performed with this current iteration of coaches.

The difference being...Mett really isn't a rookie. Sure he put up big numbers last year, and granted, it wasn't against SEC play but he looks to be quite confident and authoritative in running the offense.

Only way we see him is if any of the following happens:

1. JL gets hurt and has to come out
2. JL is ineffective and they pull him
3. LSU is up big and he comes on in mop up duty

If #3 happens maybe we'll get to see how he fares against an SEC defense.

The same characters arguing the same topic...

Do you guys like arguing with brick walls? Do you think that one more post will finally change their mind?

Or do you just enjoy arguing on the interwebz?

I agree. I know it was NW. st. but he looked very composed for his first game in TS.

Touche - But I still maintain that JJ's leash was only so long b/c of who was behind him. Accordingly, when that guy is now in front, I don't think he's got a long leash to stay there.
