I purchase one every season. Basically, you listen to the broadcast on 98.1. Nothing really spectacular.

I bought three last year, one for each of our seats, just in case.
They do not work-at all-for neutral game sites. Though I have heard you can tune them into shortwave FM channels to listen to Jim Hawthorne and Dandy Doug Moreau for away games.
The in-stadium stuff is great, because they offer no delay. 98.1 delays their sh!t specifically to push people to purchase them, it seems. Maybe not, but its worth a conspiracy theory, anyway.
We got the over the ear variety, and they work well as little FM radios for outdoors or at home use, too. You can buy those or little walk-man type units that use headphones or earphones.
Not bad if you like listening to the Stadium broadcast in real time with the game.

If you listen on your iPhone, there's a delay, eh?

I had one for bama game in 09. It was so loud I couldn't hear a thing

Yes, there is a delay. Only upside of the stadium radio is that it's a live broadcast.

I bring a pocket radio in for all games and listen on 98.1...if there's a delay, it's less than a second because I don't notice it.

The folks who sit in front of us have always had their father bring in the walkman over ear radio. he listens to 98.1
We listened to it last year. There is definitely a delay, bro. I have personal cochlear experience to back it up.

If there's a delay, it isn't like a 7 second delay. I've been listening to 98.1 in the stadium since 2003 and have never had a problem with a noticeable delay.

Why would anyone listen to the game if you're at the game? What is Jim going to tell you that you don't already know

Sideline reports give you injury updates, & they also give statistics, which LSU doesn't have the clairvoyance to update once a quarter-or more-or their HD-Trons

To drown out the sound of all the screaming babies around me.

I don't listen for play by play. You really can't hear that most of the time anyway. There's plenty of info that I find I miss out on if I'm watching in the stands without my radio.

With all that screen real estate in dallas they didn't give stats until the end of each quarter. I figured they'd have a live scroll or something with relevant stats.

I actually wish I could find a way to delay 98.1 a little longer to get it in time with the TV broadcast. As bad as Jim is, I'd rather listen to the play-by-play from an LSU perspective than listen to the ESPN talking heads babble about nothing.

There is about a 8.5 second delay to allow insertion of the proper player names into the playcall.

Most broadcasters have a slight delay in case someone says something naughty that needs to be bleeped out.
