LSU can get by but I think they can't beat Alabama without JJ.

Didnt JL save the game last year against bama?

Jefferson could buy time to make another throw. Lee gets sacked or runs for as short gain or throws it away. This is the reason JJ plays even though he's not as good a passer as Lee.

Ummm not really. JJ might run, but he NEVER threw it away. JJ was 1st receiver not open, run, or take sack.

It is OK for a QB to throw it away if nothing is there. I'm fine with JL throwing it away.

I don't expect LSU to be throwing much this season until they get up against really good defenses

I dont understand this logic.

"Hey, here's the #1 pass defense in the SEC. Lets see if we can throw it! Good luck Lee!"

we will slug it out against bama and play conservativ--maby even go to a wildcat but I don't see the coaches passing more than 15 times in that game unless we fall far behind.

No. He made a big throw, but that win was more the result of JJ's second best game of the season. It is entirely too early into the season to determine that LSU can't beat Bama with Lee as the QB though. His performance against Oregon might be enough to beat them and more confidence and time as the starting QB might result in some improvement in his game.

Didn't take the time to check the stats, but I am pretty sure Lee only took 1 sack. In my opinion it was a good sack too. He was still between the tackles so he couldn't throw it away, the pocket broke down and instead of trying to make an ill advised throw he took a minimal sack.

I really hate how not only ranters, but professional media is throwing JL under the bus because he threw for less then 50% and under 100 yards. JJ did that 6 or 7 games in a row last year. Wait and see people, damn!

There are fans here that will always throw the starting QB under the bus, no matter what his stats look like. (JJ got plenty of it)

I strongly disagree here. He should have tucked it and gotten 3-4 yards before going down. Instead he panicked and ended up losing yards. It was one sack though. He will learn as the season goes on that he needs to run for those easy yards on 1st and 2nd down. It was a bad sack probably caused from 1st game jitters and trying to do too much. But I'm happy he didn't make an ill advised throw. In the past he would have.

After a certain point, Jefferson might want to just redshirt.

I hope that doesn't happen. Whether he plays or not this year its time to move on.

Isn't that what was done to JJ all last year? I'm an equal oppurtunity evaluator. JJ was horrible for huge stretches of last year. I'm not saying Lee's performance was horrible, b/c it wasn't. But, lets not be delusional and say it was a great game by him either.

If JJ was better, miles would have left him in.

uhhh, didn't JJ get hurt on that drive? he was passing pretty well that game (esp. the 2nd half), I don't think Les pulled him.

Oh I'm not saying JJ didn't take his fair share of criticism last year because over the last few years it has been brutal. I hate how the criticism is so harsh for both. I'm just saying instead of immediately saying JL isn't going to cut it and we need JJ back in order to win games is unfair criticism especially from a professional writer. Nobody knows how JJ would have done against Oregon. What we do know is JJ had his fair share of under 100 yrd games last year, so to say we need him to win after 1 game is unfair and we need to wait and see. JL is the QB now so instead of saying we need JJ we need to give JL some time.

I was fine with the sack.

Lee taking a sack is an improvement

Point well taken, instead of back tracking he should have just gone down or fought for some yard especially since we were running 2 minute. But yes I am glad he didn't try to force a throw, take an intentional grounding, or try to throw while being sack (JaMarcus Russell). It could have been worse, but agreed it could have been better.

If true I wouldn't be surprised to see a tort suit against the city of Baton Rouge and the plaintiffs coming out of the JJ camp.

If they do this, he won't play another down at LSU...book it..
