settle down, brah. ncaa 12 has 16 teams in two division, so that's how shite will play out. always trust the video games.

I don't know who was the first to post it, I just thought it was an idea that could work well with some tweaking.
the BCS doesn't care how you determine a champion, just that you do. All we'd need is the NCAA's approval and it would fly.

I like 4 pods for a 16 team conference because, lets face it, two permanent 8 team divisions is just two conferences.
Basically, the only solution I see is that the 4 pods pair up every year to form two 8 team "divisions" and the winners of each play in the title game. Then the next year you are still in a division with the 3 others in your permanent pod, but the other 4 teams in your division rotate.

Do you know who the NCAA is? The NCAA already oversees playoffs for football. If the member institutions within a div, i.e. the NCAA, then there will be a playoff. There isn't a playoff because a large powerful block, the BCS conferences as a whole, don't want one yet.
Before the creation of 12 team conf with 2 div, there was nothing in the regs that allowed a ccg. I'm sure there was a lot of politicing that was done prior, but when the SEC went to 12, voila! We had the CCG. If we go to 16 or whatever and they want the 4 div, it will probably happen. So speculating to discuss the pros and cons is not a bad thing. I think they need to do it to minimize the number of permanent opponents in order to maintain overall conference cohesion.
