Leg whip penalties,why no replays?

How often is it called and why did the broadcast not show the replay where the incidents occurred?
You just don't see that called too much and I was really surprised to see this called against a LSU opponent.
3 calls against a LSU opponent in the 1st quarter that you never see.
2 leg whips and one chop block penalty.

I wondered the same thing--is it not called because it is so rarely done, or do they just usually call it a "personal foul" and never id it further so the term "leg whip" was all that was new about it? Or is it new that it's illeagal? This was the first time I've ever heard it called.

I was going crazy about this all night. Oregon seemed to be really bad about doing it. Surprised it was not called a few more times.

The only replay was on the chop block and I agree with the penalty.

I was getting pissed off...how could you not show this replay? Especially when Lavar Edwards was on the ground for such a long time.

Throw me in on this one as well. They never showed any of them, I was pissed as well.

They weren't showing many of the Oregon replays because abc didn't think they would have time to do so because of oregons fast paced offense.

Dont most refs call this tripping?

during the time where the penalty was being called the offense never rushed up to the line of scrimmage.
There was time each incident to show replay.

This is true. Leg whips are a penalty that have to be blatant to be called. In other words the ref has little doubt the whip was intentional. Defensive players trip over the legs of offensive players on every play. Its not always easy to catch the intentional infraction.

Thing is, for such an impressive conference the SEC has some of the worse officials in the country.

Oregon was doing it on pretty much every single pass play. I'm surprised it wasn't called more.

Most likely because it was while Oregon's "fast break offense" had the ball. Not much time for replays.
I had three different friends who called me Sunday on their way home from the game who stated OU's line was chop blocking, leg whipping, pulling facemasks and holding all night. Said it could have been called nearly every play.
We all agreed this will NEVER be called in SEC games against LSU opponents.
For those who say I'm whining, two words: Glenn Dorsey.
Anyone see the COX replay yet? Maybe COX shows the ones that were called.

they showed it on the cox replay. Good call. Basically a failed cut block

I think tripping is reserved for defensive players tripping a ball carrier with their legs. Leg whips are usually against defensive players.

Can't wait to see this tomorrow night.

before the game it was posted on other blogs, that UO was planning on "chop blocking".. I read it in one of their blogs.. do not remember which or where.
--sorry, at the time I dismissed it.

Chip Kelly must have called Auburn's coaching staff and asked "how do you rush for 400 yards against LSU"?
Reply: If you don't have Cam Newton, cheating is the only answer.
