On my DVR, you can't actually record when there's no power. But if you have it on the channel you want to watch (before the power goes out), you can rewind it when the power comes back on. On mine, you can rewind about 6 hours, I think, so this may not help depending on how long the power's out.

That still won't work. To be able to that your DVR box still has to be on. Can't be on with no power.

But in answer to the original question about recording with no power, If you have AT&T U-verse you can. Set it to record now and you won't have any problems because it doesn't save on a local DVR box like Cox or EATEL.
