Any chance Vandy would just take a buyout?

You know, just raise their hand and say they want off this merry-go-round? It would certainly solve the odd-number problem quickly.
Not sure how the VU administration or fanbase feels, and I like them as an SEC member, but it seems like they would fit pretty well (academically and athletically) in either the Big 10 or the ACC and have more success at football than they are having now.
It would give either of those 2 conferences an expanded footprint into the mid-south, which creates value where there was none.. in other words, I doubt if SEC viewership in Nashville would drop off any, but B10 or ACC interest would go up.

They get more national exposure as an SEC school. They are already a well known academic institution and they won't get as good of a deal in any other conference.
If I had to put a percentage chance on them leaving i would say .01%

Why you picking on Vandy? They dont bother anyone yet we have 100 threads a day saying that they should leave the SEC in one way or another. They are a charter member & they are not bringing shame to the conference with scandals. i say let them be.

Agreed. It's a cash-cow plus they're more than competitive in the non-football sports. I know football drives most everything in the SEC but everyone needs to realize that the SEC sponsors more than just football.

Vandy is propping up the SEC academic report.
SEC needs them.
SEC needs them.

exactly. you could argue that year in and year out their baseball and basketball programs collectively are more consistent than the majority of other SEC schools.

the last time I checked, Big10 schools weren't doing so bad either. They are supporting a lot of sports off of football.
You ever been to a game at Vandy? Almost no home crowd support. A few more wins and few finishes in the upper half of their conference might help.
Not trying to pick on them, but just wondering if they've ever had any thoughts of finding a better fit, and if this would be the time.

Plus having them around keeps the SEC from having to comply with FOIA requests (as a private school they are exempt).
And IDGA rat's hiney about helping out the B1G (other than to hope Mizzou gets its desired invite) or the ACC. They are COMPETITORS to the SEC!

no chance in hell vandy is going to leave the SEC. The amount of money they get is great even though they are a losing team.

You need a private school to maintain privacy in the dealings of the conference... otherwise you are subject to Freedom of Information Act inquiries.

Another one of these threads! While your at it go ahead and suggest Miss State and Ole Miss get booted. Replace all 3 with OU, Texas and Texas A&M. You think the West is a competitive division now....now you get the picture?

Do you really think Vandy is as stupid as Tulane?
