Look for Mizzou to join A&M in a new 14 team SEC....
Look for Bama and Auburn to move to the East.this will keep
1. The Iron Bowl
2. Bama-Tennessee
3. Auburn-Georgia
and Vanderbilt or Kentucky to move to the West..
The New west would be Mizzou, A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Vandy/KY...
The SEC will not raid the ACC since Mike Slive and the ACC Commish are good buddies...also the SEC prefers not to expand in the current SEC Footprint (aka, no FSU, Clemson,)

I do not want to be separated from Vandy. I want the same consideration as those other teams to keep our great rivalry with Vandy intact for all times.

I don't think Mizzou is coming. Could be wrong, but I don't think they are "Team 14"

Correct, they will eventually rejoin with Nebraska in the Big 10.

Impossible scenario... No way they would have the east that strong and the west that watered down. They would simply move missouri to the east.

so the east would be Bama, AU, UGa, UF, tenn, USC. good god what a freaking blood bath

Mizzou threw themselves all over the big ten last year and just doesn't fit in with the Southern-based SEC. Kentucky is more Southern than Missouri. Parts of Missouri are very midwestern just like parts of Missour are very Southern, but there are no parts of Kentucky that are very Midwestern.
St. Louis and Kansas City are more like Northern cities even with the history of segregation.

I think the United Nations would try to block that on Human Rights grounds

Exactly. It's "you guys, not yall" in both those towns. Head about 2-3 hrs. north of Fayetteville into Missouri and you'll see the change.

And still others would object to a North/South alignment............but what a football division the South would be!

If I were in the East, I'd be really pissed off if this happened.

LSU to lose annual Alabama and Auburn games? I don't think so...

I dont think so. The next team will be from the East.

I think the SEC will try and move Heaven and Earth to get the balancing team from the east, but in the end, if they cant, it's going to be Mizzou.
The SEC will be fine for the first 3, maybe 4 years with a 13 team league. The newness of A&M to the fold, the first trips to College Station, A&M's first game in the Swamp.....it's going to slightly mask the fact that it's a little heavier on the left than on the right.
But after that, an even number of teams would become the focal point, and if nothing falls into place, I would think that although Mizzou is probably 4th choice, when faced with the dilema, they would take Mizzou to re-establish the peace.
That being said, I think the SEC has time. We have all of the 2011 season and the 2012 season. So really, the 14th team wouldnt really have to come on board till 2013 or 2014. Hell, the SEC could calm the masses until 2016 as long as they announced who the team will be within a certain timeline.

I DO NOT want to lose our yearly LSU game. The tiger bowl is the tits.

quote:I kind of like this but there is a real power imbalance in this alignment; the South would be a monster to come out of with only 1 loss. For the sake of power balance, it could be the SEC would need to realign according to a non-geographical divisional pattern, sort of like the Big Ten has done.

For at least a few decades now, the SEC has had a big six teams: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tenn. I think the SEC will try very hard to keep three of those teams in each division.
There are several rivalries that HAVE to be preserved (Iron Bowl, Fla-Ga, Bama-Tenn, Auburn-UGA, Egg Bowl, maybe a few more)
And a ton of rivalries that they will really want to preserve (Auburn-LSU, Ga-SC, Ark-LSU, LSU-Ole Miss, etc).
This will all be MUCH smoother if they just add one to the east and one to the west (if they insist on this expansion nonsense).

If the Big 10 ever decides to ad another team, that team will be Missouri. Travel wise, they are a great fit for the Big 10, and have nothing in common with schools in the southern states. If some of ya'll bitch about going up to Pig Land, then wait until you have to travel all the way up to Missouri. Some on here bitch about the SEC champ game always being in Atlanta and favoring Georgia. Do any of ya'll realize how close Auburn is to Atlanta? Travel wise, we don't need a Va. Tech or a Missouri. The SEC needs to seek a more regional school if they desire to expand. Lexington and Pig Land are far enough to travel as it is. BTW, don't even mention Miami. Have any of you traveled down there? They have no fanbase plus they are far away. Just ask the gator fans how far Miami is.

Mo to the Big10 makes geographic sense but no dollar sense. It's all about the TV $. A&M brings 3 of the top10 markets. IMO, SEC looks to the NE markets - VT, Clemson, Maryland, NC
