I am talking about the administration, not an individual program. I find it poor timing and even worse judgement to:

1.) Increase the length of Miles' contract and buyout
2.) Increase by approximately 200K, Alleva's salary

This takes place while LSU's football program is dealing with active police and NCAA investigations and is found guilty of a major NCAA infraction.

Not the best endorsement of the judgement and intellect of those in charge.

Thats a tough one. It's not looking so good right now but I'd like to see the smoke clear with all the recent activity and see if/what still goes on afterwards

It's how you handle these situations when they occur that is important. From what I can see so far thing are being handled pretty well.

CLM should have gotten a new contract signed sealed and delivered months ago. He's a consistent winner. His teams play better in difficult circumstances/big games. He's repeatedly shown loyalty to the school. His players LOVE him. He seems to be a man of great character.
What more do you want from the guy? I'll buy all the stock that golf pro wants to sell.

A lesson to those on the board that woke up and it was already year 2000.

This is the best of times for LSU athletics. I'm afraid that once this age is over, many of you will look back and say to yourself, "I wish I would have enjoyed the moment more", instead of constantly worrying whether LSU has started a long term decline. It will decline one day, but finishing the way LSU did last year and with the freshman that was added, I just don't see the decline happening now. This team is better than 2000.

The success LSU has enjoyed in football recently provides gratification that some fans never get to experience.

This contract extension has been in the works since the end of last football season. Really not a big deal. And I'm happy with the direction and future of the program.

There are definitely cracks. Any FBS school is always one story away from an NCAA investigation, so that's hard to hold against the current leaders. My biggest complaint is that we haven't won the West since 2007. Granted, Alabama and Auburn were winning national championships during that time, but a little more offensive production and LSU could have a few more rings.

It's probably the proactive way LSU has handled these situations that led the administration and others to feel that it was necessary.

Recent events may follow what appears to be a lack of discipline in the football program as evidenced for play execution.

Our play execution has been less than disciplined for years under Miles.

The entire situation makes you wonder.

Ironic that the guy in charge would get $18.7 million if he lays a huge dump this season. Miles could have a 6 - 6 season and we could not afford to make a change. At that point, who would think we are a contender looking at his record the last 4 years which coincidentally happen to be after all the Saban recruits graduated?

Let's see:
Co-D coordinator fixed? Check
OL attrition fixed and beefed up? Check
Slippage of DL talent fixed? Check
Poor QB recruiting fixed? Check
Replaced ineffective OC? Check
Upgraded ST's coach when a good one left? Check
Has had limited number of off field incidents the past 5-years compared to other programs? Check
Overall greater talent than 3-years ago? Check

I don't know what some of you rantards are really seeking, perfection of athletics over a number of years has never been achieved at any institution. Well, maybe the USC baseball program under Rod Dedeaux including the 11 NC's and Wooden's basketball legacy, but those are exceptions and current competition levels prohibit those types of runs.

I think Ohio State would trade for our problems vs. theirs. We are overall headed in the right direction. Players are people and they screw up from time to time. Les does not recruit thugs and we should not judge all the young men on the team by what happened. Lets give everyone, including those accused the benefit of the doubt until we know otherwise. For now, I believe Coach Miles will do the what is right for the accused, the University and the team.
