D'Anthony Thomas is good enough to play anywhere in the country, including LSU, as a true freshman.

Dude was a 5* in FOUR positions. RB, WR, CB, Safety

looks like he will be taking some handoffs against us. I hope Trex rings his bell a few times and the spotlights cause a
fluke fumble or something, but this guy is going to be fun
to watch.

Totally hypothetical question, but if he was at LSU, where would he play considering our depth? This guy may actually be a better WR prospect than Landry or OBJ. I think he would play as WR for us, even considering Landry and OBJ are ours.

Whatcha think rant?

Hes not a better WR prospect than OBJ or Landry. Hes too short for safety, and he wouldnt crack the RB depth chart, so Id say CB.

He would be the top CB in this freshmen class IMO

I think one of the reasons he spurned USC for us was because they wanted him as a CB and Chipper said he could play wherever he wanted (RB). My point is that you may have needed to offer him a chance to be in the backfield if you wanted him to commit.

Big Ed - expect Mamba to be catching more than running, which is a hunch but probably an educated one. Twitter is blowing up re: his ability to catch out of the backfield. We have a TAZER role where we line guys like Huff, barner and presumbably DAT in the slot and motion into the backfield or just play in the slot.

he wouldnt crack your depth chart? LMAO ya right, so basically your saying your RB depth is better then oregon since hes listed at the #3 rb spot? this kid is a absolute freak, hes been called the best football player to ever come out of the los angeles area by alot of people, including players in the NFL. you dont get 5* in 4 different positions by being a turd! and BTW, he got nick named the "black mamba" by Snoop Dog, when Snoop coached his pop warner team!

The "black mamba" nickname was originally De'Anthony's, given to him by Snoop Dogg who coached his pop warner football team. Kobe overheard Snoop talking about this little kid with all these moves calling him the black mamba, and decided to adopt the nickname for himself too.

He is one of those plug-and-play guys with so much raw athletic skill that he can play most skill positions on the field. The key will be how quickly he picks up the system, coaches are thrilled with his speed and it is up to them to best utilize it, find a way to get him on the field. A lot of people thought he would best as a CB not a RB though, his size limiting his pro potential as a NFL back but perfect for a NFL CB.

There is certainly a lot of buzz surrounding Thomas, it will be interesting to see how much he is utilized vs. LSU.

Honestly the only reason he's number 3 right now is that he's the new guy, and we happen to have two dynamite ball carriers already.

He's already demonstrated that he has a terrific shot at being every bit as productive as LMJ has been for us. The kid is just special.

We'll all see soon enough.

Hes alot like Joe McKnight.. Woulda been a three year starter and first rounder at CB. We will see if he turns out any better at RB than Joe did

Just watched his championship game on youtube highlights and he seemed to be better on Defense. Not that he didn't do well running the ball, but a bigger impact on the defensive side. Kind of reminds me of T-Rex, but way more exposure/hype!!!! I'm going to watch his senior highlights on youtube real quick! LINK

Based on the type of RBs LSU likes, no, he wouldn't crack the RB rotation. He'd be in another position.
