i read an article that said it's 3,850...guess that total applies for all Big 12 games? every team allocates the same amount? i'm thinking the SEC reserves about 7k for visitors.

just curious.

If you didn't read it here this is where that person got it.

I spoke with potential SEC West opponents and asked how often their ticket allotment for away games go unused. Ole Miss, who wouldn’t be the first team I named for traveling well in the SEC, tells me it sells an average of 3,000 tickets to away games, with its entire allotment of 7,000 being sold each time it visits LSU or Alabama. Compare that to the sales Texas A&M had for conference opponents in 2009 and 2010 from the 3,850 allotment each school in the Big 12 reserves for visiting teams:

2010

Allotment Purchases
Missouri 3850 1322

Texas Tech 3850 2235

Oklahoma 3850 3735

Nebraska 3850 3817

2009

Allotment Purchases
Oklahoma St 3850 1435

Iowa St 3850 566

Baylor 3850 981

Texas 3850 3380

It looks to me like there aren't that many people who want to see Kyle Field. That being said, I bought tickets for the KU game last week off the Kansas website. I'll see you Aggies in November!

it's something like that...it's one of the specifications of SEC membership. The conference mandates about 7k for visitors of which a certain percentage have to be lower level. A&M is going to have to displace some of their fans

Or expand the stadium, of which there are rumors and plans floating around.

I can see why the visiting teams don't bring many fans. They are usually assigned section 149 which is on the lower student side. The closest that section gets is about 10 yards past the end of the endzone. I can't express to you how crappy the view from those seats is. You can watch the game on the Gigatron or try and look upfield and maybe see part of it at some weird messed up angle.

SEC will require a percentage of the visiting seats be in good seats-which is usually sideline/corner of end zone

I think Vandy brought 14 fans last time they played in Fayetteville.

LSU gives about 4,000 choice lower bowl seats to the visitors and about 3,000 not so good east upper deck.
