I actually cringe when I hear the two associated with each other. Who actually agrees with this comparison? I mean how out of touch can someone be?

I don't get it. The Jews never struck me as being very athletic.

I'm with you...it's disgusting. Insulting to the memories of people who were enslaved and damaging to the black community when some idiot brings up slavery like
LeSean McCoy
Luther Campbell
Curt Flood
Adrian Peterson

The Luther Campbell thing is what me think of this. I mean you have this sport taking all of these poor guys out of the projects and turning them into millionaires with all these adoring fans....... and you have some of these same guys comparing themselves to slaves? How many people would give anything to be in their shoes?

i need to stay out of this thread, I'll get banned

It is insulting to the average Joe to have to sit here and read that these guys think they are slaves. Try having a real job....

could slaves retire in their 30s and get a job commentating on the cotton fields?

the main reason i don't get into pro sports....
maybe an NFL lockout would have been a good thing.

Its a lazy comparison meant to to give instant sympathy to the blak athlete from a general public too stupid to know better.
I wonder if Tim Tebow, JAcob Hester, Sam Bradford etc are slaves too, or is it a unique condition of the black athlete?

Terrible comparison. If you're an athlete and you don't like your pay or working conditions you can walk away.

So Luther is comparing this to slavery:
1. Having your college tuition and everything else associated with your stay at the college paid for.
2. Having access to tuitors who are the smartest at that particular subject tuitor you alone and give you free help in any subject that you are taking.
3. Playing a game in front of maybe 75,000 people that are screaming your name every single Saturday for 4 years.
4. Getting some really amazing gifts if your team gets into a bowl game and also getting some amazing gifts if your team makes it to your conference championship game.
5. If you are good enough, getting the chance to make MILLIONS of dollars playing that same game for the next few years and if you aren't completely stupid, retiring for the rest of your life at the ripe old age of 33.
Yeah that sounds exactly like slavery to me. I am sure that I left out a ton of other things that athletes get at schools, but these are just a few that I could think of off the top of my head.

Maybe if they had stayed in college one more year they would be a little better at articulating their sentiments.

there is no articulating what they said...
they equate certain aspects of their multi-million dollar paying job to slavery...
retarded

Black people, especially those that grew up during segregation, should disown them for what they said. Of course they won't. They'll probably even agree with them.
