What do you think about Florida State to the SEC?

IMO, if they want to jump to the SEC they would definitely be allowed in.
UF, UGA, and whoever else may not want them in the conference, but I don't think they would block them. They are a natural fit and bring national attention and therefore $$$ to the table. I keep hearing the phrase "in the best interest of the conference" coming from the school presidents, ADs, etc, and it seems obvious to me that adding a team of Fla St's stature would be in the conference's best interest.
I understand the concept of expanding to new markets and the $$$ associated with it, but when Slive sits down to renegotiate the TV contract, who could possibly bring more $$$ to the deal than Fla St (of the teams being discussed, not Texas, OU, ND, etc)?
They may not be ready to move now, but as conferences continue to realign in the future I can definitely see them in the SEC.

UF and UGA have two of the biggest endowments in the SEC, UF with the biggest. If they don't want them in, they don't get in. Period.

I thought Vandy had the biggest?

What do endowments matter? Each school only gets one vote

So which 2 other teams do they convince to vote against an invite if it gets to that point?

UK and USC. To block Clemson and Louisville, if they were to be brought up.

It's not about the voting...

And FTR, A&M's endowment is almost twice as much as Vandy's and 5 times that of UF

No one cares. Y'all still won't have any pull for a long time if you join.

Why can't we make friends? I'm sure A&M, Arkansas and LSU would be like minded on many issues.
Its like reality TV. We're making alliances bitches.

A&M, Ark and LSU definitely have similar interests.
Its weird how in thinking about A&M joining, my focus is all about A&M, LSU and Arky.
I feel like I would forget that the Mississippis were even in the West if A&M joined....

That won't be happening. Y'all will get hazed so hard it's unreal. Like Arky x 1000. You're not in Texas anymore.

Busey, you were talking of political pull. Now you're talking about hazing. Quit moving the goddamn goal post. Unless, you are talking about Dr. Loftin getting hazed by other presidents because he wears a bow tie

What's it about then. Do you really think the SEC is scared of Florida???
C'mon dude, you can't be that stupid!
If adding FSU, Clemson, and possibly 4 other schools is going to give each school 10+ million more in revenue....they're in.
I don't care what UF's endowment is!

If UF, UGA, USCe, and UK vote "no" together, no one's getting in.
Posted on 8/18/11 at 11:08 am to EWE TIGER
I find it hard to believe UF/UGA/USC/UK would vote against those new members if it was for the greater good of the SEC.
I don't like Slive and the SEC when it comes to officiating but they are rock solid in business. If Slive comes with a deal it'll get done.

Is that the amount being thrown around? If that's accurate then I'm for it.
Foley can then build one of women's team a brand new facility instead of covering the baseball stands.

The number for adding just A&M is thought to be from 18MM currently to 24MM for each team. The 14th team would add more if it gave an expanded footprint or national pull like FSU
ETA: I've seen as high as $35MM/team for a new contract
