Just a thought...destroy it if you want...but to me if we are going to expand to 16 and not make the conference impossible to win, we approach UNC & Duke to see if they would come as a package deal...Texas A&M and Mizzou to the west. and then call it a day.

I realize that UNC and Duke are probably not interested but that would make the SEC better yet not impossible to win in football...thoughts?

We should ask the Lakers and Saints to join the SEC to do.

I'd certainly be good with that. Make us a better basketball TV deal along with a new football TV contract - create SEC Network - makes for better year round content/ coverage.

True. Take some basketball powerhouses and improve the league on that end. If no Missouri, maybe Louisville?

Are you Jim dunaway?

With all the success that duke has had in basketball. They still have a relatively small following. Further, when coach k steps down, I don't foresee great things with duke. Unc, however, will be an adequate pickup.

I personally would love to see Louisville in the SEC...even more than Mizzou.

Check the other thread, but Louisville's fan base is too small and not very dedicated, and their market is half UK fans.

True. But I don't think we can get UNC by itself. But Duke probably doesn't have the fanbase to justify an invite into the SEC. Be tough breaking up tobacco row. Maybe NC State would jump?

I would love to see UNC & Duke in SEC! Immediately makes basketball better! That said, I don't think it will ever happen.

The city definitely is, the University...not so much. It's an urban commuter campus with a large percentage of non traditional students. Extremely similar to U Memphis.

Agreed that is probably has no chance of happening...but if there is any current BCS commish that can pull this off...it's Mike Slive.

It's an incredibly long shot, but here's how it happens:

- 16-team conferences become a reality. The Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC go hunting.
- The Big 12 starts to die since all three conferences mentioned above cherrypick from the Big 12.
- Being that a fourth conference should exist, the Big East and ACC are in a tug-o-war to see which conference lives and which one dies.
- The SEC makes calls to Chapel Hill and Durham, assuring their security.

We don't know that the ACC will even exist in five years. And they're not as loyal to each other as you think. Duke and UNC are joined at the hip, but the other two are expendable. The current ACC football rotation doesn't have annual WF/UNC or NCSt./Duke games.
