A&M hopes to announce by Sept. 1st
"A&M president R. Bowen Loftin is in negotiations with the SEC, and privately A&M hopes to announce a move by Sept. 1, and begin play in the new league by 2012."
Starting to become reality, probably just need to work out the legal junk

needs to happen before aug 26, launch of the longhorn network
somehow i'm surprised at the level of poker tactics by both Loftin and Slive milking the process and getting more attention. announcing before aug 26 is a big fck u statement to tu

Rudy's does BBQ turkey well, but that's like bragging that your school wins halftime instead of the football game. Oh shite, wait a second

And the best bbq was from big earl's in my home town (kerrville). A real shame big earl passed a way a while back and his kids closed the business.

Troll on player.
Plus A&M fans are worse than ole miss fans and who the frick wants to drive to houston for a game? As a season ticket holder I know I don't want to drive to that shithole.

Off the top of my head, A&M could help bring us:
-A worldwide alumni base of over 500,000.
-The nation's 7th-largest university.
-As for football, the Aggies are coming off of a 9-4 Cotton Bowl season that included wins over Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. A&M is ranked 9th entering the 2011 season and Mike Sherman currently has a top-5 recruiting class in place (Class of 2012). Focus on the past ten years if you're trying to break down the Ags' resume but A&M is a rapidly-improving program. Show me a program that hasn't had a lean few years during the last 20. Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, USC, Miami and LSU have all gone through it until hiring the right head coach, while Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan and Notre Dame are all trying to pull themselves out of multi-season funks.
-Gameday atmosphere and tradition that fits in with the pageantry of the SEC.
-A solid academic reputation, one that includes being an AAU accredited institution (Florida and Vandy are currently the only two SEC schools carrying that label).
-A stadium with a capacity of over 90,000.
-Texas television market, which could bring every SEC team up from $18 million annually to somewhere in the neighborhood of $24-$26 million per team. As Andy Staples pointed out in his article, the Texas market alone would represent a (edit) 42% increase in the SEC's "footprint" (bumping up the numbers from 83.4M people from 58.6M). That's taking the SEC footprint from 19 to 27% of the U.S. population, including two of the nation's top ten media markets.
