Did you decide to buy the old Mike the Tiger cage? I remember a post a few months ago where you were considering it.

I went and looked at it, I don't think it was from LSU. It was purple and gold and had "Mike" on the side, but it did not match ANY trailers that I saw Mike riding in. The lady didn't believe me and was kind of taken back when I told her I wouldn't take it for free when she lowered the price to $500.

She got ripped off from some guy she bought it from and does not want to believe it.

As for this photograph, some one just told me that any photograph older than 1925 does not have a copyright and I own the image as well as the photograph. Anyone know if this is true or not? The guy that told me this is a photograph restorer and frame shp owner in BR.

It's 1923 actually, though I think your picture might be in the public domain as well, see the link below.

I really want a copy of this thing, so I'll do a little more legal research this afternoon.

I have a feeling LSU owns the rights to this image. I figure they contracted Jasper Ewing to take the photograph.

looking at that pic it looks like everyone is dressed up pretty nicely, and like someone else said sitting down. What point did LSU (or college football in general) become kind of what we have today with shorts/tees/etc and rowdy crowd?

Have you ever seen old footage from baseball in the 50's and before?

Same thing.

Clothing evolved, styles changed...

pro baseball and all i can see, but just doesn't seem right with college football.

there has to be a noticable time when it was noticed that college football was different with a different crowd. The heckling and badgering, yelling. Basically i'm wondering at what point did Tiger Stadium transform into Death Valley?

I'm not gonna lie, I kinda wish everyone still dressed like that. 75% of people dress like shite nowadays.

I'd buy a copy of this photo, too, btw.

an observation, I keep counting and counting the 5-yard line markers and come up with a 90-yard field between the two goalposts. Am I seeing things?

As for the yardage, the complete photo from page 2 is a fake, psychosooner, from the fark board, made it from the 5 partials I posted in the first post. He pasted it together nicely, but cut out some yardlines.

As for making copies, I did some research on the photograph yesterday. It maybe out of it's copyright or maybe never had a copyright, making it legal for me to reproduce. I've done contacted a lawyer (who also is a major book and photograph collector) about reproducing it.

If it does turn out that I can reproduce it, I may sell the image (not the photograph) to some one and let them handle it.

Yes there was. I am actually in the works of possibly buy one of two that I know of, one belonged to Harry Rabenhorst. They had the Cotton Bowl logo on the face.

I've got his watch from the '65 Sugar Bowl. Omega, says LSU vs Syracuse on the back with his name I believe.

IP law is a fairly specialized practice.

If you want the best Intellectual Property attorney in the state, who is also one of the absolute nicest guys and has unbelievably reasonable rates, you need to talk to

Thanks for the info, I just called and left a msg. The attorney I called hasn't called me back yet, and he is basically an injury lawyer.

Hey man, I've really enjoyed looking at the stuff you've posted over the last couple of years, that photo is nice.

Have you ever come across a '58 championship ring or seen one for sale? Any idea of how much one would be worth?

I have seen one for sale, it was not a player's ring, it was Herman Langes' ring (trainer). It sold for about $3000, if I remember correctly.

This was a couple years ago, before the price of gold shot through the roof.

You ought to follow up on Rummy's suggestion about a TigerDroppings.com blog. I bet that your collection would make for one of the most successful blogs on this site.

Thanks, we have a players ring in the family, won't ever sell it, I've just never seen one for sale, was just curious.

That would be awesome.

The best ring I have passed down is my great-grandfather's Mason ring.

Not saying I don't think it's cool, but I'd prefer he had played on an NCAA championship winning football team that is located in Baton Rouge, LA....with Highland Rd. running through the campus.
