Team That'll Disappoint - LSU per Scout

Team That'll Disappoint
LSU - Being a disappointment is all relative for the top SEC teams. For LSU, not winning the national title would be a disappointment, but it might be even worse than that. The Tigers still have to prove they can throw the ball, there isn't any one area that's appreciably better than Alabama, and they have to prove that all the talent can add up to more wins on a regular basis. Last year, LSU won six games by a touchdown or less, and if it didn't hang on in two of those games, the final regular season record would've been a pedestrian 8-4 instead of 10-2. With games against Oregon, at Mississippi State, at West Virginia, Florida, at Tennessee, Auburn, at Alabama, at Ole Miss, and Arkansas, it'll be tough to get through unscathed. Again, when the goal is the national title, or at least the SEC title, anything less will be a major downer.

Not a bad assessment for Scout, seeing as how they themselves regularly disappoint.

only part i disagree with. i would consider averaging 10+ wins a season winning "on a regular basis"

they said "more wins". Not "winning" on a regular basis. Bc I agree with you...I think anyone who has a pulse the past 10 yrs would agree LSU wins on reg basis
I guess they want more titles? Because if we avg'd 11+ wins that would be the case

There is alot of reasons we will be really good this year and am not going to get into all of that. The main thing to remember about " talent" level is, the 08 and 09 seasons, we fielded the least talented teams this decade. Our 05 and 06 classes were not top ten at all. We are definitely on the up swing and will do really well this year. Btw, we could have just as easily been 11-1 instead of 8-4. We have been improving every year since 08 too, and this is with nothing but defense.

fair statement
Disagree. Completely unfair considering this schedule.

You disagree with anything negative...homer

I personally believe that this will be the season that we will either be calling for Les' head or enshrining him as one of the greatest coaches in LSU history. Just my two cents.

Exactly why it's unfair.
With all the preseason high rankings, if LSU doesn't win the NC, people will want him gone. With this schedule, 2 losses isn't out of the question.

Well at least I will be consistent!

This is true. Les in his 1st year in 05 didn't have a typical top 10 class due to the timing of NS leaving. In both the 08 and 09 seasons, the 05 class could have potentially provided leadership needed to win close games. All classes have been top 10 outside of 05, but the last 3 classes have been dynamite top to bottom.
I like the direction of the program and the fact is CLM will always be considered lucky until he wins another title. I think he is a great coach. You can't get lucky for 10 straight Years as a HC with a 80% win clip at LSU and 70% overall. If you compare those numbers to NS, who the media deifies, they are spot on with each other.

Let's see...if LSU had not hung on in two of those games and not scored more points than their opponent in another their record would have been 7-5 instead of 10-2...OR...if LSU had not hung on in two of those games and not scored more points than their opponent in two other games their record would have their record would have been 6-6...OR...ONE MORE...if Auburn had not outscored all of their opponents their record would have been 0-11 with no national championship.
So, there you have it, Auburn was damn lucky to when the National Championship last year so, therefore, I expect them to not win a game this year.
I grow tired of the what if argument. It does sell papers, I guess.

Would also be the norm...while Les gives us a style to win many games that same style is always good for a couple of losses each year...his teams lack the discipline to win em all...I'll eat crow when it happens and be happy as I can be but I just don't see a team that he leads having the attention to detail needed to get it done...

Why? We couldn't throw last year and lost twice. What does marginal improvement mean?

This seems quite possible. Again, the QB will make or break this team.
