according to TAMU yes. I think the re affirmation that the SEC was happy with 12 teams was a ploy to avoid a lawsuit if the Big 12 does implode.

Who knows. You cannot take any information from Aggie sites, because they don't even know what the hell is going on. Their sites were reporting yesterday that A&M had been voted in 11-0, and no vote even took place.

Anyone know what time they're meeting?

There are only a few people who know what's going on.

Texas A&M Board of Regents
President of A&M, R. Bowen Loftin
Possibly the AD, Bill Byrne

Mike Slive
SEC Presidents

Outside of those, the rest is just guessing based on possibly wrong leaked info and small reports they make.

Board of Regents Agenda for 8/15/2011

It's still listed as Item 15 on the agenda for today "Authorization for the President to Take All Actions Relating to Texas A&M University's Athletic Conference Alingment, The Texas A&M University System".

Dr. Loftin said that it was still on the Regent's Agenda Sunday afternoon:

“As we have seen over the past several days, there has been a considerable amount of misinformation regarding these discussions and any associated timelines. The chairman of our board has indicated that the regents will proceed with tomorrow's agenda item, which authorizes the president of Texas A&M to take all actions related to athletic conference alignment.”

Do you have a link to the press info?

There are a lot of items on that agenda including approving the system's budget. 1 hour? Maybe they'll do #15 first and let Loftin leave.

my guess, is that @ the 4pm presser will be announcing that aTm is leaving the Big12 to explore other options.

I hope, God knows I hope, but I just don't know if I see us moving that fast, especially without a place to land. And I'm sure they have an idea of how the SEC would vote, no way you would go into this without having that assurance.

They are meeting and giving Dr. Loftin the power to decide conference affiliation. So no vote to leave today.

Loftin will then meet with the Board of Higher Education tomorrow to discuss the issue. They can't block the move. They just want to be in the loop

ESPN is sending cameras to College Station, to film the President's presser and get file footage of how ugly some of the A&M architecture is

I think the pressor is to announce a new chancelor of the A&M system.

The "vote" today is just to give Loftin the power to handle negotiations...so there's no 72 hour delay (for the BOR to announce a meeting and publish agenda) in any decision that A&M makes on leaving the big XII.

No decision will be made. I bet we even making a statement saying we're commited to keeping the Big XII intact, but that we are keeping all options open and will continue to act in the best interests of A&M and blah blah...
