If aTm joins the SEC next season, they will be missing a lot of playmakers...

We all know they won't be joining the SEC this year, but let's take a look ahead to next season...
The Aggies will be missing a ton of playmakers that helped them win 9 games last season. In all, according to Rivals.com, the Aggies will lose 13 or more starters after this season. The players are as followed:
1) Ryan Tannehill - Starting QB
2) Cyrus Gray - Best and starting RB
3) Jeff Fuller - By far their best WR
4) Evan Eike - Starting OG
5) Tony Jerrod-Eddie - Starting DE
6) Johnathan Mathis - Starting DE
7) Eddie Brown - Starting NT
8) Garrick Williams - Starting LBer
9) Terrence Frederick - Starting CB
10) Coreyell Judy - Starting CB
11) Trent Hunter - Starting S
12) Randy Bullock - Starting K
13) Ken Wood - Starting P
***there's also the possibilty of underclassmen leaving early***
The Aggies may be in for a rude awakening....
Also, who would the SECr compare aTm to that's already in the SEC? They are 13-19 in bowl games, and have an all-time record of 675-444-48 according to this: LINK.

They're going to come in after like a 10-3 season and go under .500
Bet on that shite.
Bet on that shite.

That is definitely a possibilty.

There really isnt any team that would come in to the SEC and succeed in the first year of football

Sticky sticky way up there. Why does TT have Auburn hair?

That's a good point. THIS is supposed to be A&M's year. I think they'll be tough at JerryWorld. If we can beat them, they might go 0-5 against us in the Southwest Classic.
For the past two years, I have personally thought A&M was "us, only a year behind".
I view them as sort of like that this season.

They will be a perennial .500 team.
They were worse than Arkansas while playing in the same conference. Arkansas has played in the SEC for 19 years and never won the title, never finished in the top 15 until last year (#12).

This thread really isn't talking about expansion in specific, but more along the line of their football team when they actually get here. They're coming, and there's nothing we can do about it.

I've thought the same. The truth is though that they aren't going to be as good as us this year either. They don't have the defense to compete with us and apparently never plan on developing that defense.

You're right but theres a chance they bury themselves.. Seems like they've turned their shite around (maybe) and can compete in the Big 12(10) now.. why come to the SEC for money and risk the chance of becoming a bottom feeder.

Some insight from an Aggie:
1) Ryan Tannehill - Starting QB - guy's a stud and will be missed, and while 2012 may be rough we've got some outstanding QB talent in our stable.
2) Cyrus Gray - Best and starting RB - He'll be sharing carries with Christine Michael. We will certainly miss Gray but he was 2nd behind Michael before Michael broke his leg.
3) Jeff Fuller - By far their best WR - Our WR corps is the strongest it's ever been. Fuller will be a 1st or 2nd rounder but WR is not a weak spot for us whatsoever.
4) Evan Eike - Starting OG - Eike is a grinder but Sherman is an o-line coach at heart and we've got a good group of young o-lineman that will likely be playing on Sundays.
5) Tony Jerrod-Eddie - Starting DE - 5-7 we will miss these guys.
6) Johnathan Mathis - Starting DE
7) Eddie Brown - Starting NT
8) Garrick Williams - Starting LBer - he's getting pushed by underclassmen for his starting role right now.
9) Terrence Frederick - Starting CB - our DB depth is as good as it's ever been right now.
10) Coreyell Judy - Starting CB - I'll miss this dude. He's a beast ... especially in our return game.
11) Trent Hunter - Starting S - I'm gonna miss having Trent Hunter around. He's been laying big hits since his sophomore year. Can't replace a dude with that much experience, but again our defensive back field has a lot of talent.
12) Randy Bullock - Starting K - had a pretty good year last year, but we pulled in one of the nation's best kicking recruits.
13) Ken Wood - Starting P - Our punting has not been good. Not sure if this guy will be starting this year.

Then, after next season, aTm will be losing 8 more starters. The year after the join the SEC, they will have an entirely new team that they will have to compete with.

That's why I made it clear that I got the info from Rivals, I wasn't sure about who would actually be starting for sure and competing for a starting spot

Our defense had been pretty poor in the past. 2 years ago we were ranked 100-something. Last year we jumped up to around 50-ish playing against an offensive-minded league. I'm looking forward to what DeRuyter gets out of our D in his 2nd season.

aTm has yet to beat arkansas in dallas.....this means that on the normal year for them they should expect 3 losses in their division minimum.

Rivals isn't the best A&M-related site. Texags is, but you do have a lot of inside jokes and sarcasm to filter through if you're on the regular "A&M Football" board.
To answer the other question in the OP: When we played Georgia a few years ago I know there were a lot of parallels between the teams football history.

Yea, no shite. That's the nature of college football, have you never watched it?

The way Jimbo is building FSU, its like he knew they would get to the SEC eventually and he is trying to prepare for it.
If they end up joining as well, they wont win the title the first year but they will compete with the east.
Posted on 8/13/11 at 12:52 pm to The Eric
if there was one team to do it I would bet it would be FSU

No team is elite every year, there are always peaks and valleys, but the aggies should be peaking this year. They are loaded and have no excuses. If they can't make a BCS bowl with this team coming out of a 10 team Big 12 with no title game, they will be heavily demoralized when they join the SEC.
