Looking at getting a Yeti and have heard/read mixed reviews on the cooler. What says the OB?

I think it all depends on how you plan to use it.
For my purposes, its not worth the money.

Maybe if I had a camp where getting more ice was a pain and I stayed all weekend. I just don't have that right now.

I have had one for 5+ years & love it!!! I have the 125qt, that was before they were famous. Bought it at a outdoor show for 500.00

Waaaay to expensive for my use. Block ice is too cheap. Also, the other day, I saw a guy in a store parking lot, get his out of the back of his truck and lock it up in the cab while he went in. That's too much trouble for me to worry about someone stealing my ice chest.

if you have the cash to blow and are the type that likes to have top end shite why not. I wouldn't turn one down but can't justify spending several hundred on a cooler. I would rather have another shimano calcutta and just stick with the igloo marine.

I just threw two away I bought last year...

You don't find that the block ice takes up too much room in the cooler?

Very nice coolers, but not worth the money IMO. Only way I could justify it is if it was a permanent one for a boat or if I had a hunting camp with no electricity/fridge. We spend enough on ice machine parts/replacement ice machines when someone runs the 4 wheeler up the porch and pushes it through the back window of the camp at the camp to justify a Yeti.

I was in one where getting ice was a pain. I would usually go up Friday for the afternoon deer hunt and come back on Sundays after we went duck hunting. I still didn't need a Yeti. BUT, thats in the winter.
Someone mentioned block ice. This is what I do. I make my own though. Just fill up some buckets and put it in the freezer. Pull it out a few hrs before I leave and its good to go for days!

I use it for fish, not drinks
2 blocks in a 150qt and 1 block in a 48qt
If I use it for drinks, I take an ice pick to it and make about 10 big chunks

Might have to give it a shot. I find my ice is almost gone by saturday afternoon most weekends at the camp.

I don't, but it depends on the size of your cooler. I have an 120 qt cooler for my game and I have plenty of room for what ever I kill at the camp.

I just have a 72 qt for inland fishing so i may have to use quart sized ice blocks in lieu of gallon.

If you'll be on a boat or somewhere where you need to keep stuff cold for a long time then they're great and worth the money.
If you need to ice down a couple cases of 'Stones for a few hours then your standard $50 ice chest will suit your needs just fine.
Or if you need one as a status symbol go for it. Got a buddy that uses a Yeti to carry his beer around. He's currently 3 months behind on his truck note but he's damn proud of that Yeti.

No bites?
I'm glad none of y'all bought that line of shite.
The coolers are nice, but not for me. In the winter time keeping ice isn't an issue. Just don't leave the ice chest in your truck bed. I always put mine on the porch in the shade and have no problems.
