Jeff Goldblum was originally cast as Han Solo. He declined "Star Wars" because he was filming "Annie Hall" (in a part that was later reduced to a one-line appearance).
I think it would have been awesome.

I wonder how the Oscars would've played out that year had Tom Hanks taken Tim Robbins role in Shawshank and Travolta taken Hanks' role in Forrest Gump?

Christian Bale would've been fricking incredible in Pirates of the Caribbean instead of Orlando Bloom
Not sure how to feel about Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones

Will Smith as Neo and Johnny Depp in Speed... what a world it could've been :insertSadKeanupic:
Mel Gibson in Gladiator, Bon Jovi in Footloose, Sean Connery as Gandalf. This is a really weird alternate universe I'm looking at!

Julia Roberts could not have pulled off Basic Instinct.
And I don't quite understand Natalie Portman looking "too young" for Romeo + Juliet. Claire Danes looked like a child in that movie.

Too young?
The characters are supposed to be around 14.

Yeah, but they were probably afraid that Americans would feel the slight sting of pedophilia since DiCaprio was 22 when that film was made.

Burt Reynolds turned down role in Terms of Endearment that Jack Nicholson nailed.
Michelle Pfeiffer turned the role of Clarice in Silence of the Lambs, which eventually won Jodie Foster the Oscar.
Paul Bettany pulled out of The King's Speech in the role that won Colin Firth the Oscar.
Jack Nicholson pulled out of one of the roles in Space Cowboys.
Dougray Scott pulled out of X-Men as Wolverine, because he hurt his back shooting Mission Impossible 2, and Hugh Jackman replaced him.
Will Smith was originally cast as the lead role in Snake Eyes, but turned it down to do Enemy of the State. Al Pacino was originally cast in the Sinise role in Snake Eyes.
Ron Howard was going to direct Brad Pitt in the lead in John Grisham's The Chamber, but once Pitt pulled out, Howard just stayed on as producer, and Chris O'Donnell got the lead.

that would've been weird. i feel like Travolta was too much of a ladies man to have pulled off a good Forrest

Would have made a great movie even better. Tim Robbins is a good actor but that movie actually carries him...Tom Hanks and that movie is winning best picture.

Luke and Owen in the Oceans films would have been awesome...

I think Robbins was perfectly-cast. Hanks doesn't have the same reserved mannerisms. The crux of Dufresne's character is that you don't often know what he's thinking. I think Robbins can play the introverted, calculating sly fox character better than heart-on-his-sleeve Tom Hanks.

Harrison Ford is one lucky son of a bitch...Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner
