different positions

Well we all know this. But is Hunter more of a difference maker than Randle? I didn't catch very many Trevon Randle footage nor am I an expert analyzer.
Posted on 7/22/11 at 1:12 pm to coldhotwings
They had basically the same offer lists, both had really good film, and both were considered to be really underrated. So I guess they are pretty similar. But Hunter probably has more unrealized potential than Randle does

How does Hunter compare to Randle?
They dont compare at all? Hunter is a DE and Randle an OLB.
I was just saying I thought for sure last year Randle would get a bump and he never did...didn't understand it.

It would be nice if experts realize that they have been underrating LSU sleepers and take more notice when analyzing these players(Claiborne, Simon, half of the staring o-line).

Simon's film was unbelievable coming out. If you could watch that and not say he is a 5 star talent and future stud DB in college, you dont deserve your job
Posted on 7/22/11 at 1:21 pm to yamammasprofile
According to the experts, he's a 3-star. Maybe they thought he was too tall and was gonna switch to receiver.

Mario Edwards is number one in Texas and deservedly so. His issue is his weight and whether he will keep his speed. If he slows down and moves to DT - he then becomes the best DT in the country.
Danielle Hunter is number two in Texas - he's a physical beast and definately underrated.
Devonte fields is the best speed rusher in Texas.
Javontee Magee is good, but probably projects as at DT at the next level.
Univ of Texas DE Hassan Ridgeway is terribly overrated.
Michael Starts is a good Offensive Tackle and a piss-poor defensive end.

A number two anything in TX deserves to be at least a 4-star except maybe fullback and special teams. Kid needs to get a bump.

Is Edwards really that good?

Hunter comes from a 5A school that played their first game in 2006. It is a new school that has had one winning season (2008 they went 7-4). They went 0-10 in 2006, 1-9 in 2007, 7-4 in 2008, 1-9 in 2009 and 1-9 in 2010. LINK
They are in the same town as one of the state's most successful programs ever, Katy (450-262-18 all time with six state championships).
After the one winning season they did have the football program was disciplined and three coaches were fired amid allegations the three violated UIL and district policies by changing student records and misusing district funds. LINK
Texas is not a state where kids can go to school wherever they want by transferring around but it is a state where it is hard for a new school to start winning. The older established schools throw a lot of weight around so it would not surprise me to look into it a little further and find that Katy had a lot to do with keeping this new program down. The new team in town has one winning season and (BOOM) they go on probation. Katy doesn't want to go down in stature the way Plano High did after Plano East & Plano West get started up. You can thank me later for the Texas High School Football lesson.
This kid has received accolades from across the state but he would be getting more hype if he was playing at a more successful program.
After reading about what the kid's program went through I don't blame him for going OOS.
I bet this kid plays with a chip on his shoulder and gets a bump.
I hope he comes to LSU with the same chip on his shoulder and plays himself into a great one!

I believe he goes by Dan.
Changing his name in your subject so everybody is educated to this might cut out all of the silly shite about Danielle.

he super-raw but he gives great effort. he has a lot to work with but i don't like how he throws his body into the tackle in the film. he will get better at setting up the tackle for better pass rushing moves and play with his hands a lil more.

not 100% sure he prefers it but since I've seen it that way in a magazine article, why put ourselves through the pain of it?
If I remember correctly Herb Tyler started out as Herbert Tyler and that wasn't as bad as this could be.

He's going to have to work on his foot quickness a lot if he wants to play in the SEC. I realize he runs a 4.6, but if your DE is running 40 yards that's a bad play for your team. He runs a 4.6 because of his long strides, but that doesn't matter much around the line of scrimmage. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, lets just not fall into the trap of annointing the kid too early.

I saw that highlight and was wondering why he doesn't play TE. I agree that he will be a bit of a project, but he seems to play with tenacity and gets off blocks really well. Hopefully that will separate him from say, Jordan Corbin, who I'd compare him to physically.

I am in Katy and will go see a Morton Ranch game this year. I will give my thoughts after I see him...

However, I thought Trevon Randle was a lock for that too but he never got the bump for whatever reason.
Turner was guaranteed a bump to 4 star from Rivals last year either at LSU camp or Hoover and he never received it either.
