Pirates bandwagon thread/DPT

I've been sort of quietly pulling for the Pirates for a little bit now but I've decided to make it public that I've jumped on the Pirates bandwagon and I'll be rooting for them the rest of the season (minus games against the Astros). Its starting to look like the Astros 2011 playoff campaign may fall a little short. So I've got to find a contending team to root for for the remainder of the season. I needn't look further than the Buccos of Pittsburgh. 18 seasons of futility surging into 1st place in mid July.

As a Cubs fan (team out of the race), I really hope they hope win the Central to change things up. I have no ill will towards this team. Go Buccos!

Exactly. Like if your team isn't in the race and competing with them... how can you not be happy to see the Pirates finally winning? They've long been baseball's doormat so I'm legitimately happy for them and their fans. Its nice to see them finally out of the cellar

When I went there on July 4th, it was pretty much capacity. Great stadium. What was interesting was that Clemente is by far the most popular jersey/t-shirt jersey worn. I expect McCutchen to start to make up some ground on those sales.

I was actually going to purchase a McCutchen jersey last season, but I didn't because I was sure management would ship him out soon.

Abandon the Astros (just for this season). Go Pirates, as a long time Saints fan, I can relate to the Pirates fans.
