I would put Brees, Archie, Hebert, Everett, Jeff Blake and a waterboy in front of Brooks.

didn't add Wuerffel for only 6 starts at 2-4. 48.8%comp 12TD 22INT sacked 46 times in 16 appearances is impressive.

To understand how dreadful the 70's teams were think of Archie. He was very mobile. Not a Vick runner but just as good as Vince Young. With that mobility he was sacked 340 times in 129 games. It's amazing he was as good as he was and not scarred for life like David Carr. His games & sack numbers to start his career...

Jeff Blake had the Saints at 7-3 when Brooks took over dumb arse...not hard to get to the playoffs when you only have to win a couple games...Brooks went 3-3 on the last 6 games and got lucky and won the playoff game...big whoop

^All that needs to be said about Brooks

it was his first time starting at QB. so I'd say 3-3 with a playoff win is a big deal.

Whatever anybody else's stats, the worst QB situation was absolutely 1990, when Finks forced Hebert to hold out and NO went Pastafalaya with noodle arms Walsh and Fourcade.

The terrible thing is how good that team was otherwise. With Archie or Everett at QB, to say nothing of Dr Drew, the Saints might well have made the SB.

Then he went to the Falcons.....

He won a lot of games with the Saints and led the Falcons to a sub .500 record. What more can you ask a guy to do?

Most objective and rational people rank the Saints top five as:

Brees
Manning
Hebert
Brooks
Everett

Just about every list that I've seen has the Saints top five as that (or some permutation of that, like flipping Brooks for Hebert).

Your silly little bias is showing.

Good point..

But that goddamned 99 yard pass to Haynes and the ensuing bird/plane like celebration is burned into my memory.

Anyone remember the song they had when Steve Walsh came here? "Steve Walsh Baby" to the tune of "Ice Ice Baby".

THIS!!!!!!

He single handedly tanked our season when we had all the other peices to be something. How bad are you when you have a whole city pining for Bobby Freaking Hebert?

MIKE BUCK!!!!!

Billy Joe / Bobby Joe whatsanever?

Hap and Buddy are both spinning in their grave!!!

Can any organization list such futility at the QB position? Probably not.

I seem to have images of players burned into memory. For Walsh it is him walking off the field holding his hand like he hurt his finger so Mike Buck could go in and throw a hail Mary.
