In response to the above, I too am for keeping the Youth Weekend prior to the season opener in the East Zone. The main push for this change is coming from a small group of Northeast La hunters who claim that they never have water or ducks to take a youth hunting. On the contrary, I know of plenty of folks who hunt fields who have water and ducks and enjoy the youth weekend where it is currently. I personally hunt coastal marsh and we most always have birds.

Also up for change is taking a week out of the East Zone 1st split and putting it in the second split. Again, this is being pushed by a group of Northeast La hunters. Feel free to share your thoughts on these proposed changes by emailing Mr. Larry Reynolds at lreynolds@wlf.la.gov

As a NELA hunter, I must say that I'm all in favor of a longer second split. We usually don't even bother to go during the first split.

The small group of NE Louisiana hunters is a hell of a lot bigger than you think. I would love a later season up here.
