When a nice little Pac-10 wanna be plays for a national championship you know there's been shenanigans afoot.
This is the exact sentiment that has me wishing Oregon gets a wrist slap and goes on their merry way. If Oregon comes out of this unscathed, you know that Oregon continues its upward trajectory in CFB.

True enough. Maybe Oregon and Oklahoma State can play in the Phil Knight/T. Boone Pickens national championship game in the future.

Wonder what Oregon's response would be if the NCAA mandated the university to disassociate itself with Nike?

Canzano is supposed to be on around 4:15

because of an inquiry into recruiting services?

And your sentiments are exactly why I'm proud to support the Oregon State Beavers when I feel the need to root, root, root for a home team.
Coaches like Mike Riley and Pat Casey do it the right way and therefore earn tremendous respect from their community and their coaching peers.
Chip Kelly, while a fantastically gifted coach whose offensive schemes are rightfully venerated and feared, clearly has no problem trafficking in the grey areas if it helps get his team closer to the prize. And I'll admit, before Lyle-Gate blew up, I liked Chip Kelly as a coach. Still think he's a great coach. But now I think he's a lying, covering up weasel no better than Tressel. And like Tressel, he'll probably meet the same fate.
The condemnations are coming down fast and furious and it's not just Canzano.
See Jon Wilner from the San Jose Mercury News:

Even George Schroeder from the Eugene Register-Guard has some pretty damn strong words for Kelly and U of O:

The question isn’t whether Oregon’s football program is being investigated by the NCAA. It isn’t whether there will be repercussions, probation and penalties.
Given what Will Lyles admitted to Yahoo! Sports — and later Friday, to me — about his participation with Oregon’s recruiting efforts in Texas, it’s apparent he will be tagged by the NCAA as a booster. Which means his relationships with Lache Seastrunk and LaMichael James violated NCAA rules.
“(Oregon) paid for what they saw as my access and influence with recruits,” Lyles told Yahoo.
But the larger concern Oregon’s power brokers — President Richard Lariviere, athletic director Rob Mullens, are you listening? — should have today is over the clumsy attempt at a cover-up.
And the truly ironic thing is that so many people here on Tiger Droppings cheered for Oregon to beat Auburn because they thought the Ducks were the anti-Auburn.
The Ducks are the anti-Auburn in this sense: Auburn has perfected the art of cheating. The Ducks are mere amateurs. The Ducks on the side of the road pleading "But Ossifer, did you see that drunker driver going twice as fast down the fweeway?"

Riley and his, "oh, golly, gee willikers" demeanor doesn't necessarily do things the "right way". One thing I never did throughout the USC investigation was pile on. No one knows whether their program is doing things "right."
Also, the writers your bring up have a history of slamming the ducks.
I could also list those that think no sanctions are in the Ducks' future.

Let's see what Lyles has to say about LSU in 45 minutes.

“He’s a complete Jordan-head,” Lyles said. “That’s one of the big things he liked. So Oregon had a pair of Jordans for him --- only one of two pairs ever made.”

In other words, "I know my Ducks are screwed, but I'm hoping LSU is screwed too."
Newsflash: Lyles isn't complaining about LSU not paying him. The more Lyles shares about LSU, good or bad, only makes his story MORE credible, not less credible.

In other words, the street agent thing is not an Oregon creation. Like Canzano said, Rodgers and Woods are linked to Lyles. Patrick Peterson to LSU. Besides, I don't necessarily think sanctions are imminent. At this point, it may be that the NCAA closes the loophole and slaps Oregon on the wrist.

And I'm sure Oregon State and LSU also had coaches who were shuttled around Houston by Lyles. And Lyles must have arranged for a LSU or Oregon State recruit to transfer to another school to avoid a Texas graduation requirement. And Lyles must have arranged for a LSU or Oregon State recruit to get his grandmother to sign the letter of intent. And in exchange for all that LSU or Oregon State shelled out $25k in gratitude. I'm sure Lyles has a mountain of thank you notes from Les Miles and Mike Riley thanking Lyles for "orchestrating everything".
Yup, you're right.
Oregon = Oregon State = LSU
Except only one of those teams is gonna burn in a duck pond of fire.
