Slick, when are you getting your chickens? I ordered some the other day and they should be arriving on the 19th.
Post a pic when you get a chance, would like to see.
Where did you order yours from? I was gonna get some off of Craigslist, but I have to finish fencing my yard first.
The hen house looks pretty rough. Made out of scrap wood I found in the barn and painted with some bright red paint I found in there too. I have posts up for a 20X20 yard for them, with a hen house in the middle. Not really like a coop from the ppl on back yard chickens.

I ordered mine from Meyer Hatchery........You can probably do just as fine ordering off of Craigslist. The only reason I ordered from an actual hatchery was so I could have the chickens vaccinated. From what I gather you can do this yourself, but since I'm only ordering a handful it didn't seem like it was worth it to order everything to do that.
There is also a hatchery near Gulfport, Ms you can order from, however they don't offer vaccinations.

This is a BIG NO NO! Reason its a no no is that when you have to get into the coop, you will have to walk thru shite, That is not the bad part. Once the birds are in the pen, after a couple months, they will eat all grass and you will have nothing but mud and shite. Now throw in one good rain and you have one hell of a mess! Once the birds start laying, you have to go and walk thru that mess every day to get the eggs.
Put your coop on the outside wall of your pen along with the nesting boxes on the back side of your coop to were you don't have to go inside the coop every day.
