I'm about to start construction on one in my backyard, if you have one post pictures of yours. I'm going to do a version of the coop in the link, but decorated like an old New Orleans shotgun, and painted in purple and gold.

My dad started raising some last year, cool little dudes.

Plus it is great to go out in the morning and get a couple for jambalaya later in the day . Makes a world of difference.

Well that will be one sweet "uptown" shot gun double chicken coop.

Please, pics when finished.

My mom has 10 and gets 8-9 eggs a day. Make sure the there is an area for them to shite that is removable. Otherwise you will be cleaning it very often. The eggs have much more flavor than normal eggs. They are delicious.

I'm in the process of finishing mine. I built the coop, just need to finish fencing in the yard.

put wheels on 1 end so you can roll it to different areas of the yard/into the shade.

chickens are interesting to raise, but they are some nasty bastards...put the coop as far from your house as you can manage and be damn sure that you have a predator-proof place for them to sleep...

as for the chicks, don't frick with anything fancy....just go down to the local co-op or feed store and pick up a few....

I fenced half of my chicken yard in this weekend. May finish it this week. I ordered the McMurray catalog and may order from them. I was not aware of the dangers of buying from CL.
