Anyone use or have experience with the cajun anchor style anchor? I need a new anchor and was thinking of getting one, unless they not worth a damn.

This is much better IMHO:

Lighter and easier. I used the 8' on my 22' deepvee boat with ttop in 5' depths with 15 knot winds and it worked great

go to academy, get the stainless spear type, be done with it. best pole anchor and you can go in a lot deeper water than 7'.

I made my own out of grounding rod. Works well and cost 15 dollars to make.

i think so. be sure you get SS or something else heavy (not aluminum). the heavy ones you can throw straight down and you can use it in some pretty deep canals. aluminum just wouldn't have the arse behind it to push down that deep.

quote:Where'd you get the grounding rod from? I was thinking about buying a peice of 10' stainless stock and make 2 out of it, I'd just have to find someone else who wants one. $15 bucks would come out cheaper than that though

I have a 19ft center console. And I have a 6ftr that I made from a lightning rod. Wouldn't go any shorter than that. Make sure you attach the rope with a stainless heavy duty hook to the rod. Let's the rope swivel around on top. Works awesome

HD, Lowes, etc have grounding rods like stated above. Drill a hole, place a shackle. Done.

Awesome, I'm doing this when I get a chance. I won't need anything longer than 4-5' for the Cajun special
