There seem to be a lot of options. Do you recommend the one you specifically mentioned?
Also, how important is it to use the rechargeable batteries (protective layer??), or can you also use regular duracells, energizers, etc??
Thanks.

I have a rechargable streamlight (no clue what model) that works well for me. It's LED with low/med/high, and I find the color of the light it puts out is perfect for blood trailing and the battery is supposed to last 60 hours between charges. It is far from the brightest thing in the world though.

Hopefully you're not on public hunting lands doing this - too many "brush shooters" out there. From a pure safety aspect, a light is not necessarily for you to see but for others to see you with it. Just makes no sense for someone to walk around in the woods in the dark without a light on during hunting season.

quote:Yes get the five hundred lumens because it come with 2 batteries(one in light and a extra), a truck charger and home charger for that price. I have never needed my spare battery btw. Ive had my lights for year and half and the original battery is holding great , so i really see no need for aftermarkets and have never tried regular batteries. You know the old saying that if it aint broke dont fix it.

BTW the seller go market seems to be good to deal with. I dealt with two different sellers and he was the best

to avoid confusion, CREE manufactures LEDs which many companies then put in different lights. There is not only one CREE light and not all CREE lights are the same brightness. One of the brightest lamps they offer right now is the XM-L which can do around 500 lumens, however they also offer other lamps that hover around 100-150 lumens. So, when shopping flashlights that use CREE technology make sure to check out which lamp they are using in it.
Also, check out this guy and his HexBright. I have been thinking about getting one and it has a lot of potential. Plus the price he is asking is not bad at all compared to other lights of the same brightness, and his you can setup however you want.

No way is do it on public land, some of the rednecks I know that hunt WMA around here scare the shite outta me. I hunt on a lease with a club in MS, everybody knows where everyone's heading before we go out and I feel pretty safe with those guys

I'll also add, if I feel like there's anyone somewhere in my vicinity I'll walk out with my light on the low setting just to be visible. I usually try to hunt somewhere away from the others and try to walk in without a light because I feel like it would spook deer. Sometimes if I lose my way I'll just sit in that spot and wait 5 or 10 minutes until it gets a little lighter and I can make out where the stand is.

That's the one I planned, and I'll probably get a more compact one too that runs off of AA's for my hunting backpack. That one you posted might replace my maglite in my truck
