Where is the best deal on AR-15 uppers?

I am starting to search for a 16" flat top upper for a AR-15 build and am looking for the best deal. Any of my fellow gun nuts have any recommendations?
Del-ton seems to be the cheapest i have found so far.

How much?

$395 for 16" flat top with car length glacial guards, post front site, flash hider and bayonet lug. Comes with bolt and charging handle.
$415 for M4 style 16# with M203 barrel cut out.
Comes complete as the other. Only difference I can see is the barrel cut out.

Man they are proud. Some of those uppers less charging handle and bolt cost more than I plan on spending on this entire build This is a second AR and mainly just going to be a plinker and to have a project to tinker with. I have a Colt MT6700 already.

They are all mil-spec, unlike the Del-ton's, RRAs, etc of the world.

Not cheapest but I'd like to build on the Mega Gator upper.

What about Spike's? Little bit more than the M4 you posted but not as bad as the BCM's.

You can usually find complete spikes uppers at AIM surplus for under $500. Good stuff!

So far I have a mil spec CAR buffer tube, Magpul MOE fore grip and CTR sock and magpul pistol grip all in OD Green got these a few weeks ago from Cheaper than dirt. Yesterday I ordered a castle nut, end plate, buffer spring, buffer, accu wedge, lower parts kit, castle nut wrench and front site tool from Del-ton. I plan on ordering an essential arms lower either tomorrow or next week. Hopefully in a month or two I will order a complete upper half. Shooting for a $700-750 total build price. I plan on using a Magpul flip up rear sight as well.

What are their lowers going for? Need to pick a couple up. I was on Spikes website the other day and their lowers looked to be ~$100.

I didn't realize a complete upper could be had for >$400
If a man were to desire to build the cheapest AR-15 possible strictly for a play gun, what kind of price would said man have to pay?

It can be done for $500 but it's gonna be lower quality for sure.

You can shop around and get better prices, but this will get you in the ballpark…

You can find Spikes lowers at AIM for around $80.00 if you want a matching upper and lower.

My buddy has a complete Delton AR, he built the lower, and bought one of their 16" uppers, not sure which one. He has shot the hell out of it, and modified the upper (removed sight post), and has nothing but good things to say about it so far. He has had it about two years now, no problems.
