Les looks like he's lost some weight.

If JJ does have his best year, then LSU will have a great year, BUT, he does not have to have a GREAT year for LSU to have a GREAT season.

If he just cuts his INTs in half and doubles his TD passes, he'll be a little better than average, and LSU will be nearly unstoppable.

I look to Jason Campbell as a possible precedent. The guy was a joke for three years, then All SEC as a senior and had a decent pro career.

That's a big IF.

I like Jim Rockford's comparison to Jason Campbell, but, again, with the great offensive line and stable of running backs, LSU doesn't need all-SEC play at the QB position. Average to better than average will suffice.

I sure as hell hope that's not too much to ask.

JC had significantly better numbers than JJ his first 3 years.

JC first 3 seasons:
25 tds, 18 ints
4673 yds, 60% comp rate
36 career gams

JJ first 3 seasons:
28 tds, 18 ints
3996 yds, 58% comp rate
32 career games

LSU's Les Miles: Expect Jefferson's 'best year'
why does Les do this? He did the same with the O-line back in 2009. Just let things play out on their own without the unnecessary preseason rah-rah...

Because he was asked repeatedly, very specific questions about his QB.

That's what good Head Coaches do. They build up their players, not brow beat them. That's what The Rant is for..

You mean Roy Lang can write a decent article in Shreveport

Guilbeau's version would have been a little different

LSU never needs a GREAT Qb. Look at what we did when we let JR throw all over the place for 3,000 yrds...

Then look at when we let MF throw for 300 more then JJ. Run..run..run..play LSU D, and pass when needed. Average QB play who can manage the clock will take LSU to BCS games.

I thought you were a Big on Defense? Why the sudden need for West Coast type Offensive scoring?

LSU beat the crap out of USC & only scored 23 points. USC scored 3..

I want a balanced offense. I want to be able to take advantage of matchups on the outside and hit teams deep and I want to be able to pound the rock. We need to be able to have big play ability along with being able to drive the length of the field and eat up clock.

Is that asking for too much?
