UCLA and Houston come close, but when you have 3 of the NBA's top players of ever, and 1 at each position (G,F,C), i just don't see how anybody could top them.

Chris Jackson
Pete Maravich
RUDY MACKLIN!
Bullet Bob Pettit
Shaq

RESERVES
Stanley Roberts
Brandon Bass
Glenn Davis
Howard Carter
Marcus Thornton
Tyrus Thomas
Stromile Swift

GAME OVER

Good starting five EXCEPT for Swift. Rudy instead.

I'd put John Williams in the top five. And move Macklin down.

The 5 best players in LSU basketball history are CJ, Shaq, Pete, Pettit, and Macklin.

Whether that's who you'd want as your starting lineup is a different story.

Oh, and DeWayne Scales has to be in the top six or seven.

LSU had Chris Jackson, Shaq and Stanley on the same team and did not win a NC......

I've always said, any all-time LSU hoops team of mine has Ethan Martin at point. Pistol and CJ can play off guard and they'll get their touches with E at the point. I wanna win not impress with name recognition.

Ethan
Pistol
Shaq
Pettit
Macklin

Reserves

CJ sixth man
John Williams
Jerry Reynolds
Brandon Bass
Hi-C
Big Baby

I'd switch out Rickey Blanton for swift.. His versatility would be handy.. I'd make room for Jose Vargas somewhere..just because I loved that guy and his style..

Sorry, but as good as Pettit was in the early 50's he wouldn't stand a chance against modern players.

That's true for pretty much any sport, actually. The best players of 1950 in any sport would get absolutely crushed today.

I'd make room for one-or-more of the following: Derrick Taylor, Greg Cook, Kenny Higgs, Sparky Wade, Jordy Hultberg, DeWayne Scales, and Willie Sims (aka "Super Sub").

There is a feel good article on a blog about Shaq. For all of the big fella's personality, he really was a giant teddy bear, unless you were guarding him in the lane!

Shaq is definitely on the all-time LSU team. I'm gonna miss that guy.

UCLA would hold their own. That would be a damn good match up though. Just imagine how epic the Kareem and Shaq matchup would be if they were each in their prime....

PG: Walt Hazzard
G: Gail Goodrich
F: Sidney Wicks
F: Marques Johnson
C: Kareem

Reserves:
Bill Walton
Reggie Miller
Ed O'Bannon
Baron Davis
Russell Westbrook
Willie Naulls
Jamaal Wilkes
Kevin Love
Don Maclean
Jordan Farmar
Aaron Afflalo

And of course we all know who the coach of that UCLA team would be......

Starting 5 would roll over people. That is if Pistol Pete would pass the ball to Shaq from time to time.
