If you like rafting or kayaking I suggest you get yourselves to some white water. The Colorado river is flat out raging right now. Withe the record snow fall and unusually cool spring the river is abnormally high and FAST. This will be a top rate rafting year for anyone thinking about doing it.

My teenage children now want to white water raft every year for vacation. They are addicted. We went to Arkansas but the white river was too high.

A 15 year old Salmon saved his Dad from drowning after he flipped out of our raft during a whitewater rafting excursion on the Middle Fork Flathead river in Montana. Fun times.

shite meant to post on the OB. I was just sharing because I see the CO river everyday and it's unusually high and fast. I have a friend who spent 10 years as a river rat on it and tells me this is the best rafting conditions he's seen.
I'm looking at the river now from my deck and I usually can't see it from my deck!

I also read that the Siera Nevadas are offloading large volumes of snow right now. Sacramento is in serious danger of flooding. It's actually ranked right behind New Orleans for flood danger at this time.

I used to guide out of aspen (riff raft) and we'd go over the pass to buena vista and hit the AR river...good times. We also hit the roaring fork early in the season when the water was up enough.

Nice. I ran Middle Fork and North Fork in 93 in a solo canoe. We trucked from Memphis up to Jackson Hole and then worked our way up to Alaska and back that summer. Paddled a lot of great rivers.

The roaring fork is busting at the seams right now and Mt. Sopris is still covered in snow.

ETA last weekend Aspen opened back up for skiing. It's been in the 80's and 90's since. The snow is melting at an incredible rate.

No caparison to upper gauley in wva. More 4s and 5s than any river you can do on a day trip.

Maybe if you're solely talking about commercially guided raft trips....but otherwise that statement doesn't hold much water. Hell there are probably 10 creek runs just in the state of Alabama with more IVs and Vs than the Upper G.

Course rafts dont fit down them and if you dont know what youre doing you'll die in a heartbeat.

Either way it will be a big year out west for private kayaking. Sadly I expect at least 4-5 deaths this summer
