Post them here and discuss.
Realistic or crazy, doesn't matter. Let's do this.
Here's one I saw elsewhere if we wanted a complete and utter rebuild:
MIN OUT: Flynn, W. Johnson, (Rubio), #2
MIN IN: Paul, Barbosa
NOH OUT: Paul, Okafor, Ariza
NOH IN: Flynn, W. Johnson, J. Johnson, #2, #5
TOR OUT: Barbosa, J. Johnson, #5
TOR IN: Okafor, Ariza, (Rubio)
Man we would be in the basement for long awhile...

We really should trade Paul strategically but that might kill any local interest in ownership.
Who knows if Chouest would be consulted before a huge move - I think it's unlikely we see anything epic.

The CBA will determine everything. If it goes more the owners way than the players way a local ownership group will step up and Paul will either stay or pick up his option and delay. If it goes more towards the players we might lose the team, not just CP3.

My god, we'd drop tons of salary but we'd suck. If this was a better draft maybe but still... ugh

OKC gets:
Chris Paul
NO gets:
Russell Westbrook.
We get our Derrick Rose/#1 option and both teams become immediately better

make it better!!!
OKC gets: CP3, Ariza
NOLA gets: Westbrook/Harden/Collison
salaries match with this one. Don't think you can do straight up cp3 for westbrook because of the dollars. Collison has a large figure, makes it work all the way around

Not even close, Collison's contracts drops 10 million dollars a year in salary next year.

You're looking at the wrong year of salary. You need to find 2011-2012 calendar year salary.
This is what you need to look at

no Im not Dell Demps. I am a fan who will stick some names in the ESPN trade machine and see what happens. The one above I stuck the names in and according to the MACHINE, the trade is approved.
I have no desire to run around looking at salaries and years...that's what the machine is for
eta: not trying to be a jerk, Im just here for some interesting conversation

Since Paul isnt getting traded.
Here we go(stemming from the Josh Smith trade rumors):
ATL gets the Center they've wanted and dumps an overpayed backup PG since Teague will take over next year. And Miller is put back into a better situation. He's a good shooter, but not the spot up guy Miami thought they were getting.
Miami gets a PG.
Lakers get a PG.
Hornets get Josh Smith and a downgraded, yet servicable, backup PG. They get the best player in the deal, so they also have to take on Walton's contract.
Just fwiw, you can cut a year off of all of those contracts because they're going into next year.

Hat, I'd do Paul for Westbrook straight up, but OKC won't be able to afford that.

It's hard to map out a trade like this without knowing how the CBA will turn out. Actually, it's pretty much impossible. But anyways...
Hornets get:
G Russell Westbrook (2 years, $4 million)
F Serge Ibaka (3 years, $1.2 million)
G Andre Iguodala (4 years, $12.3 million)
Thunder get:
Chris Paul (3 years, $14.9 million)
David West (1 year, $7.5 million)
76ers get
James Harden (3 years, $4.3 million)
Nate Robinson (2 years, $4.2 million)
New Orleans would be sending away about $22 million in contracts, and receiving $17.5 million, helping us get closer to being under the cap.
Philadelphia basically gets Harden for Iguodala. They will give you about the same production offensively, except Harden is under contract for the next 3 years at a much cheaper rate than Iggy.
Oklahoma City would be receiving a lot more in contracts than they would be trading away, so this is probably where the trade falls through. However, they aren't currently over the cap. So maybe with a nucleus of Paul, Durant, and West, some veterans may be willing to play for the minimum of $1.2 million to chase their dream for a championship. For example, a guy like Nazr Mohammed could potentially re-sign in OKC for the minimum.
Hornets
1 - Westbrook/Jack
2 - Iguodala/?
3 - Ariza/Pondexter
4 - Ibaka/Landry/Smith
5 - Okafor
Assuming the Hornets can re-sign Landry, that's a pretty solid team. Yes, they'd need be an incredibly terrible shooting team. But they'd also be one of the best defensive teams in the history of basketball. On offense, everything would go through Westbrook, with the 2nd options being Iguodala and Landry. To me, it would look a lot like the situation with Rose in Chicago. Instead of re-signing Gray, maybe they could use a couple million to sign a good veteran shooter to stretch the defense.
Oklahoma City would be giving up their young core of Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka, but I think that would be fine with them if they got Paul and West out of it. That's a championship-level team.
Paul/Maynor
Sefolosha/Cook
Durant
West/Collison
Perkins/Mohammed
This trade probably wouldn't work out, but I'm bored. I can't put it through the trade machine because it says West's contract is expired. But I'm pretty sure he's going to take his player option after his injury this year. Bash away...

In that deal the hornets get younger, cheaper, and better. Too good to be true.
Posted on 5/24/11 at 9:25 pm to LSUSaintsHornets
Yea, but I actually think OKC wouldn't mind that deal. Paul/Durant/West is the best team in the West no matter who you put around them.

Who plays center for the Hornets? Doesn't work. Might as well get rid of west too if you are going to take Smith.

Al Horford is Atlanta's center, and he's much better than Okafor.
