Death Valley vs. Autzen Stadium

In the last couple of years i've heard from people online and in person that Autzen is louder then death valley. I think this is crazy is Autzen even close to as aloud as Death Valley can get? Maybe the last two seasons Oregon's stadium has been louder at times, but still i dont believe it. Plus Death Valley holds like 20,000 more people.

The way Autzen is built..yeah its possible and actually a good chance of being true.
Plus, their fans don't suck as bad as ours.

Ole Miss is probably louder when LSU visits than Autzen but the venue itself is probably less hospitable
Loud and hospitable are the two terms that need to be distinguished
I'm sure Oregon fans think there environment is similar to the SEC, Oregon St fans were in shock when they showed up to BR (the rain deluge made Tiger Stadium a shell of itself that night)

Death Valley is bigger and louder. Both stadiums set records for noise levels in '07. LSU vs. FLA- 132 decibels... and Oregon vs. BC '07 128 decibels.. aside from that I cant see them being consistently louder than our staduim.

Lets see who gets louder in Dallas

Parents live up that way...their neighbor is a season ticket holder, have gone to several games over the last 10 years. Its loud, stadium design helps. Tiger Stadium citizen for 12 years. Both very loud. Worth the trip to see the area and enjoy a game in a good locale. They do need some help with tailgating so bring supplies and teach them how its done LSU style, if you ever get the chance to go. Great atmosphere to see a game.

As has been said, the stadium's configuration and the fact that the seats are so close to the field contribute to the noise level there.
That being said, I would argue that Tiger Stadium has a higher ceiling for noise level than Autzen does, due to having more people, and more drunk people to boot.
A couple of fun facts about Autzen: it's not only not on campus, it's across the Willamette River from the campus. And it was built on top of a landfill.

We wiil be in jeopardy of losing our loudest stadium status if we keep pricing out the obnoxious beer drinking coon arse for the wine and cheese wuss!

I watched a game at Autzen. The place is nice because it is new, but nothing close to Death Valley.

I've been to Autzen and it is very loud. LSU, UF loud.
No joke.

Ben hill griffin has less people. But in 06 when LSU was playing, it was rocking. probably the loudest game i have ever attended.

They are probably louder, but more things go into an atmosphere than Loud. I have never been to a game in Autzen but here is how I think the match-up would go.
Pre-game - LSU (Landslide)
Tradition - LSU
Facilities - Oregon
Amenities - Oregon
Fan Knowledge - LSU
Average Sound - Oregon
Peak Sound - Tie.
Crowd Size - LSU
Engineering question, besides sound would 92,000 people have more force than 50,000? Kinda like Joules? I have no idea.

I have been to both. I went to the Oregon-Purdue home opener at Autzen in 2009 in a late afternoon/evening start that went into the night. The game was nationally televised by Fox.
The game was a nail biter with Oregon winning it at the end in a fairly high-scoring game. The stadium certainly had its bit of electricity. The pre-game enthusiasm and surrounding tailgating was pretty solid, but certainly not LSU caliber by any means. The issue I had, although I am sure a late season game in the civil war against Oregon State at home or hosting USC would make the encironment even better, was the shape of the stadium, particularly the end zones, which allow a lot of sound to escape. The fans are rabid and wonderful, but there just is not nearly as many of them, as the staadium is substantially smaller than Tiger Stadium.
All in all, i would put Tiger Stadium at its best at an 11 out of 10 and would venture to put Autzen at a 9.5 out of 10 for a big game within the actual stadium during a game.
It was impressive, but cannot compete at all with Tiger Stadium.

I have been to actual games at the following schools/venue: Oregon, UT, TAMU,OU, LSU, Bama, Auburn, Miss St, Tenn, Florida, UGA, Ole Miss, USCe, Clemson, FSU, Iowa, Penn St, Michigan, ND, among others (Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl, UH, etc, etc...)...I have not been to 4 major venues that are also mentioened among the best, tOSU, Nebraska, VaTech, USC...So based on seeing these 4 on tv and talking to several who have a REAL experiential basis of comparison, I'll include them also with that caveat...
They are all special in their own way. I "stratefy" them as follows for the in-stadium experience:
Tier 1 (Supreme): LSU, Florida, Penn State, TAMU
Tier 1A: (Almost Supreme) Oregon, Auburn, UGA, tOSU*
Tier 2: (Outstanding, but not as outstanding as they think they are for all round "electricity" for a huge game, but can still an awesome experience): Tenn, Bama, ND, VaTech*, Nebraska, UT, USC*
Tier 3: Great/Wonderful experiences: OU, Iowa, Michigan
Tier 4: Can't go wrong for fun: Clemson, Ole Miss
Tier 5: Everyone else

I've never understood these types of posts...why?
Who can prove it's louder?
How do you prove it?
Oregon will say there's is louder
LSU will say there's is louder.
How does the argument get settled...and who cares anyway?
