Haven't started it yet. Anyone else DLed it yet and/or know if it raises your level limit like the last DLC?
Posted on 5/17/11 at 12:27 pm to drewnbrla
Raises it from 30 to 35.

Just googled it and I probably should have done that to begin with. The original level cap was 30. With the addition of Dead Money it goes to 35 but with Honest hearts added to that the limit is 40. So one DLC=35, Both DLC's=40.
But regardless, thanks Foul.

haven't touched new vegas in a while. After hearing about the Burned Man constantly while around Legion troops, I'm anxious to meet him.

I'm taking a break from L.A. Noire so that I don't beat it too quickly. I'm about to play this DLC.

Let us know how it is. I wasn't impressed with the first DLC.

Pretty solid so far, better than the first DLC.

Ok so as far as the DLC goes, it's much better than the first one but starts off slow. You can't bring your companions along (mine are Ed-e and lily) and you can only initially bring 100 pounds of gear when you start and there is a crate you can put your stuff in before you leave or you can persuade the guy in the vault 22 outfit to carry some of your stuff thru dialog. But upon arrival you can load back up with what ever you find. The terrain is a bit disorienting, confusing and difficult to navigate throu. The map seems to be pretty decent in size from what I can tell. But there are a few new weapons that I have came across so far: .45 ACP handgun & automatic rifle as well as a snow globe (only useful for 2000 caps if you haven't killed mr. House) which is located in te Zion general store (I think that's the name of it) that is located behind the register and on the floor in the corner of the shelf. As noted earlier, I haven't gotten too far into it yet nor know what kind of skill levels that would benefit you the most (IE for dead money: high survival/repair) and the story is slow to start. I'll give more updates/review as I get deeper into the DLC.

I think IGN's review sums it up pretty well:
IGN Review
I'm a sucker for Fallout, so I am enjoying the exploring and story aspects of the expansion, but my one gripe is that it is a pain in the arse to get anywhere due to all of the canyons.

Loaded it up a few hours ago.
you weren't kidding about the canyons. rapid changes in elevation are a bitch to get around in.
haven't played fallout in a while, so it was nice when I turned a corner and became reunited with my old friend, the giant cazador. Just as annoying as I remember.
So far I've been enjoying it.

Yea the map is ridiculously difficult to navigate thru. Even with the map its difficult because the map doesn't show very detailed topography or any elevation levels. But something else I've noticed is that outside the main DLC quest, the DLC offers A LOT of side quests which I've always enjoy because it helps make the game last longer. I've been playing Fallout NV since the day it came out and I still haven't ran thru all of the scenario variations yet on the several play throughs.

yeah, when I stopped playing I still had to finish a playthrough with the NCR and Mr. House. I'm playing this with my NCR guy.
I took the selfish route first.

Yeah I'm playing through with mr house on this go around and I'm a little pissed cause he wants me to kill the brotherhood of steel and the BOS have been my boys since the DC days of Fallout 3.
Btw, have you figured out how or if you can use the simulators at the BOS bunker or the ones the boomers have?

I haven't done it myself, but I've been under the impression that it was a possibility. Been too long, but I could have sworn I saw it as a dialogue option once and that I managed to screw it up.
Don't take this as gospel though. I'd say your best bet is to look it up on gamefaqs. They'd have a solid answer there, I'd think.
And regarding House and the BoS, I don't know if there's an option, but you may be able to reconcile the two if you try and negotiate. I think it's possible with NCR/BoS at least.

Just finished the dlc and played through the two endings.
**************SPOILER****************
Def. more satisfying to side with the Burned Man in the end and wipe everyone out. I thought that the most interesting aspect of the DLC was the side story involving the terminals in the caves strewn about.
I found both of the tribes lame and truly didn't give a rat's arse about anyone's story in the DLC outside of the Burned Man.

Burned Man was the only truly interesting character of the bunch, I tend to agree.
Those fricking tribals were packing some serious heat, huh? My character was specializing in energy weapons, so I felt left out with all the cool new firearms floating around. Not to mention they were chewing my health up with those .45s and field carbines.

This link provides a transcript of all the terminals around Zion National Park and were the most interesting part of the DLC IMO:

Did anyone else find the snow globe in the general store? Just curious because I could have sworn I found one and I just went to mr house to cash it in and the fricker is gone. I went back to the general store to double check and make sure that maybe I forgot to grab it but it wasnt there. Can anyone confirm that I am not going crazy and there was a snow globe? I've found all of the other snow globes and with the dlc there's now an extra spot in the penthouse suite's display....

Posted on 5/20/11 at 12:46 am to drewnbrla
I think that empty spot is for the snow globe in the next add-on, Old World Blues but I'm really not sure. I didn't even bother collecting the snow globe because there isn't an achievement tied to it. Also the 2000 cap reward isn't an issue because of all the gold bars I snagged from the end of Dead Money.

Just looked it up and I'm not crazy there was one but I have no clue what happened to it. I haven't finished dead money. I started it but went back to a previous save. How much do you get for the gold bars?
