Obviously prompted by the Tyler/Jefferson thread.....For me, I'm thinking the out route to Booty in the Florida game to keep the last drive alive/keep Florida from getting the ball back. Even though he had some awesome runs in that game, to me, that one throw summed up his career, which was GETTING IT DONE.

that was as much Booty as Tyler. Tyler's run in the first quarter that night was incredible.

The option run against Florida was my favorite play he made...

However, Herb Tyler on the bootleg... that play was money was a first down every time. Play action fake to Faulk or Mealey, roll out, and either a pass to LeFleur or Savoie or Foster for a first down... or a run for a first down.

Money!

I'll take his touchdown run late in the game. I was only 7 when it happened so cut me some slack. I remember him jumping in the air and kinda fist pumping.

My dad wouldn't let me run onto the field, so i started crying

I don't know why I like this play, because it didn't work, but do you remember the 2-point conversion against UGA at the end of the game? He scrambled all over the field then threw the ball across the field to a wide open receiver. It took forever for the ball to get there, then at the last second, a UGA DB broke it up. I just remember it being an exciting play.

That game was great too because the field had tire marks on the field becuase some LSU fans broke in the stadium the night before and drove all over the field. Classic SEC football fans...

I'm not sure but I think this was Josh Booty.

Well come on. Herb was black, about 5' 10" and Josh was 6' 3" and white. Easy to confuse the two.

I gotta go with this one as well. I was 10 years old and watching it at my grandfather's house. I vividly remember his celebration when he scored.

Josh Booty pass attempt failed.

I was right, 99-LSU@UGA Herb wasn't on the team. LSU lost 22-23.

I was in the south endzone that night and he ran directly toward us. You could see the play open up and could see that he'd score. What a night; what a game!

that was not a great play by the UGA DB. it was a horribly weak pass from Booty. I could tell when it left his hand it had no chance.

I agree, if he had thrown a bullet he completes it but I think he was falling back to be fair. That was a terrible ending to a game.

LB Will Witherspoon broke the pass up. I remember it well as we watched it from the endzone as well, just above the hedges.

Sorry back to Herb...

Same here, it was right in front of me in the SW Endzone. I still have that image burned in my head when he jumped up, and gave the fist pump. I was only 14, my dad wouldn't let me go on the field either
