Do you say anything when people just walk down the bank and start fishing off your boat dock?

Good question. I don't have a dock. If I did, I'd take it case by case basis. Cool neighbor, let them fish. Bum off the street, let them know they are trespassing and have to leave.

I don't run them away or anything like that, but I do walk out and talk a bit...just seems to me that people are less likely to frick your shite up or litter if I have made driect contact...

Where are you that people would "walk up and fish from your dock"?

I don't have one but if I did and it were a problem I would put a gate at the entrance and lock it.

I'd put a no trespassing sign but I'm an arse and it's nice of you to allow those "renters".

Grew up on the Intracoastal canal. Had a boat launch and dock. People riding along the canal would come tie up to the dock to go to a store or snow ball stand. They would always come and ask permission.

my experience is people who don't own, don't seem to understand basic boundaries...I agree start with no trespassing signs. The nice ones ask for permission in the first place. It is your liability.

My grandparents house was right on the Tickfaw River next to Hwy 22 and people used to walk up and ask to fish off the dock all the time.

One time my grandpa let this old black man fish there and after about 15mins he hooked on to something he thought was a huge fish. When he reeled it in and pulled it up is was a giant eel!

He screamed "MOTHAfrickIN SNAKE!!!" and then threw all of his shite down and left. Never came back for his stuff either

Not anymore. Law changed a good while back to where a person is not liable if others are on their property for recreational purposes without permission.

Like a lawyer told me one time "everyone gets a day in court" cost you time and money to hire an attorney even if you are in the right.

Well it was a lawyer that told me about the law change too but you certainly have a good point.

Every now and then neighbors will have fiends over and call and ask if someone can come down to fish my fish light. Never had a problem, especially if it is kids.

Your homeowner’s policy should be defending you...

When I fish from a boat and make a shitty cast I will usually try to get it off without getting on the dock but will snap the line if I cant.

From the bank I stay clear of others property unless I am certain they do not fish and even then I ask permission.

And I agree with other posters, I owuld take it on a case by case basis, with the majority of people being asked to leave.

If they ask permission I'll allow them if I know them.

I'd put up "No Trespassing" signs.
