Has anyone tried this? It would seem to be a true challenge granted Troy would be even harder. But it is Vandy after all...

I run an online dynasty where everyone had to start with a 2-star team. I won the national championship with Vandy the first year. If you really know what you are doing on the recruiting trail it takes about 4 years to get the talent level on par with the rest of the perennial championship contenders and about 6 years to get A+ overall/offense/defense.

Vandy would be the team of choice it seems like for a 2-star team. Figured some of you would have faced the challenge by now

:CSB: now go back to trying to save your trees... Any recommendations for being a new member on here? Maybe go introduce myself on the OT with links to my Facebook? I'm sure pics of my gf are necessary or I should GTFO

Used to do this for fun NCAA '09. I took SMU to the ship in my 2nd year. Eventually got the invite to move up to bigger conference.

Had a friend do it with WKU as well. SMU was easier due to Texas recruits.

Run the triple option until you get premier athletes. It might not work online, but the computer makes it hella easy to read.

I could never get a considerable amount of 4/5* guys to come to my school when I tried this. I was lucky if I got 2 four star guys in a year.

Ya gotta build your recruiting base up. First few years it's tough sledding trying to get 4* players but it picks up after you keep winning on the field and your school ratings go up.

I did it for Troy. And played on All-American. Have you tried playing Alabama during the SEC championship with this set up? It made me want to pull my hair out. I had swapped out Vandy to Troy only because I live about an hour away from Troy.

Troy is a great team to swap into the SEC, but I have experienced playing against Alabama and Ohio State who are perennially stacked with talent and it is not fun. I finally broke through with a Senior QB and WR combo that I could rely on.

I beat Bama and Ohio State my first year in an online dynasty with the Ohio Bobcats on All-American. Bama isn't that hard against the computer because their offense is very predictable; they pretty much run all the time except third and long. The hardest teams to beat against vastly superior talent are teams with great QBs that pass a lot.

Does it make it easier to.sub in.some smaller d2 schools to bump.up your wins?

I've never tried to sub D2 schools into power-conferences. I don't know if that is even possible, because ever since NCAA 05-06 (?) they replaced all the D2 teams with generic FCS West/East/South/North or whatever they have. When I am starting out, I usually schedule one or two to boost my win count to get ratings up.

EDIT: Were you asking about conference swapping D2 teams or scheduling them?

Just scheduling fcs east/west...not swapping them into the sec.

There isn't an issue with scheduling them. It kills your SoS but you should be able to make it up through in-conference games most of the time.

Does SOS really matter with recruiting though?

Negativo. I use them early on in Dynasties to get some wins but I have trouble getting a high enough rating to get Championships if I schedule too many D2 teams.
