A movie that a person either finds brilliant and fascinating, or repelling and infuriating.

I really like this movie personally, but I know a lot of people that absolutely hate it.

A bunch of young, good-looking actors, weird editing, lots of split screens, retro music, flashbacks, etc. Some consider these things cheesy tricks, but I found them all to work together.

Anyways, what do you guys think of it?

I do. But, I came of age in the 1980s, and was a bit of a Bret Easton Ellis fan at the time, despite the film being made in 2002.

Van Der Beek had so much promise coming out of Dawson's, Varsity Blues, and Rules, to have stalled into the journeyman's career it's become.

Depressing movie

I felt like the dinner scene with the mom really cut a lot of the tension/darkness of the movie.

I thought it sucked, but I think everything Brett Easton Ellis has done sucks. Yes, I am including American Psycho. If you took the brand names out of his novels they'd be about fifteen pages long.

I liked the montage with Kip Pardue (is that the right actor?)

BEE is clearly overrated as a writer, as are his works put to film, but in the '80s, he had promise, just never maximized it. He touched on some good angles and hit a few chords in the day, but history/review haven't been kind. A sorta poor man's Jay McInerney?

Much like say the Bronson/Death Wish marathon on AMC this week..I thought they sucked when I was a lil kid..now are downright comical..history unkind.

Loved it. Better than fast and the furious or never back down or any dumb arse movies people seem to love but lack any point.

That montage was the only part of that movie I thought was well done. It had good acting, but a worthless plot, and editing that tried to be creative and just fell flat.

On a personal note, I remember being incredibly sad that the girl was a virgin but basically got raped by that townie.

Loved it. Thought it was hilarious that Jessica Biel was a coke whore that got gang-banged by the football team... "oops. rusty pipes!"

It's weird to me that Sean and Patrick Bateman are supposed to be brothers.

In the book she gets drunk and passes out and is then raped by two guys at a party. I don't recall what happens to her in the movie.

i love RoA, but i don't find it brilliant

it's just an entertaining look at snotty rich kids doing selfish things, like most of BEE's work

it's one of my favorite movies to watch. i'm not saying it's one of my favorite movies, or a great movie, but i love to watch it

I love it because that soundtrack is actually my college soundtrack.

I don't find it brilliant, but I like the movie and own it.
