when you look at their SEC records, there's really not much difference.

When you look at championships there is a big difference.

Plus, Smoke seemed to go out of his way to alienate the fans. Let's see how Mainieri handles this.

This team is not very talented and that's the bottom line.

nor will they. Skip changed the game and everyone followed his recipe. That's part of the equation is that there is much more parity in college baseball these days.

I don't think talent is to blame. This team is playing pathetically and the coach is the one to blame. If you're telling me this team has less talent that any other team in the West I think you're nuts.

He only got one at LSU, though.

so, now Smoke was sitting by himself drinking "pitchers" of beer at Walkon's? Debate the merits without making up lies.

Not really.

Smoke took a strong program and made it a weak program.

Mainieri took a weak program, and turned it around extremely quickly.

a bit of an overstatement. LSU was never "weak" under smoke. It didn't perform as well as when Skip was the coach, but no team will ever dominate like that. Maineri's teams have done no better in the SEC than Smoke's. Maineri rode 2 great pitchers to Omaha. Maineri inexplicably almost ran Coleman off of the team. I like Maineri and think that he's a good coach, but Smoke caught more grief than he deserved.
